I also think you should contact Propstore about this.

$460 appears to be the ‚official‘ rate that is displayed on the Fedex website.
Fact is, Fedex, as well as UPS and DHL, give HUGE discounts for business
accounts, for bigger businesses this can range from 50% to 75% off the retail
rates.

Once upon a time, Heritage would pass those savings on to their buyers. I
remember receiving a huge tube with Fedex, and they billed me about $75 for
delivery to Germany. At some point the empty suits realized that they could as
well bill the retail rates and make a nice extra profit from the balance. At
that point, their shipping fees became outrageous. Add the fact that the
courier services bill by volume weight: The bigger the box, the bigger the
extra profit for both Fedex AND the auction house. The last flat package I
received from Heritage was ridiculously oversized and they charged me over $300
for Fedex. With actual costs most likely being in the $100 range.

Seems to me Propstore is taking the same approach here.

Just for the record: filmposter.net receives substantial discounts as well, but
we pass it on to our buyers. I can ship most flat packages to the US for
€25-€30, rolled posters for about €45. Both with an average delivery time of
3-4 days.

Hi Grey,

My combined order for 2 posters to Australia has been quoted at
$460.00 for FedEx
International Economy. I appreciate the French Grande poster is huge, but
that is incredible! Anyone know of other options that don't involve
chopping the poster in half or selling a kidney?

[MOPO] AW: [MOPO] WOW!! PROPSTORE SHIPPING QUOTE!!

2023-05-19 Thread Marcel Elsener
Yes, there is. I did go through the checkout where I have my 5 winning bids in
the cart and where you can select shipping. But I don't see the USPS prices
anymore, only the expensive FedEx rates.

I'll contact the propstore staff...

Yes and that's fine. However I am still in the dark about combining shipments.
I have bought three backed onesheet-sized posters (one too many, but that's why
I should never again bid by mobile phone). Is there a combined shipping option?
I don't see it on the site.

just looked at a quote for one lobby card and the least expensive rate was
$44.00, which also seems very high.
To compare, a recent single lobby card purchase from Heritage cost me $11.82 to
ship.

Sorry Grey but this is a TOTAL GOUGE and I will seriously have to think twice

Re: [MOPO] WOW!! PROPSTORE SHIPPING QUOTE!!

2023-05-17 Thread Michael Greenwood
Yes, I was checking in to view my watched items and, because I had time, ran a
quick check on shipping to me. It was definitely a gouge. I was trying to see
what kind of information I could find regarding multiple wins but it wasn't
clear. Like, I could take the hit if I was grabbing three items but I am very
afraid (my history with the gouge kings Heritage!) that I would find myself
with separate invoices. Has anybody noticed there seems to be a high
concentration of greed around these days?

2023-05-17 Thread Wim from MOVIE INK. AMSTERDAM
It probably is. I was alarmed by Todds message so I checked my quote for
a linen onesheet to the Netherlands. Cheapest option is $101, so that's
okayish. Though I have to admit that I suffered a blow earlier this week
for a $90 shipping fee for a folded $90 onesheet from the Uk - a few
hundred miles to the westof Amsterdam.
