Re: [MOSAIC] Dyslexia

2013-05-09 Thread Mena
I am curious about the doctor that diagnosed her condition? Can any doctor
diagnosis dyslexia or does it have to be a specialist? What types of
assessments were used to make this diagnosis?

Is she referring to oral/verbal comprehension as opposed to comprehension
from her reading?

I am very confused. If her comprehension is well above grade level, then
how can she be struggling with her reading? If you are talking about
decoding, well. decoding is just one element of the reading process,
and apparently one that is not hindering her.

Seems to me like there is no problem here.

I need some ideas to help a student who is struggling with dyslexia. She
has been diagnosed by a doctor and struggles with her reading. Her
comprehension is well above grade level. Any ideas will be welcomed.
 Thanks

Re: [MOSAIC] Book list for your ordering

Hi...for those creating book lists, booksource.com and titlewave.com are both
excellent resources in the AIS Reading environment. Teachers are able to give
students choices specifically with their needs ie: level.genre/interest
embedded. Thank you !

 Hi.
Also try Booksource.com. It creates a list for you, with
 Fountas/Pinnelll guided reading levels.
They even have book sets by grade level that they tout as being CCSS
appropriate and each grade level is organized by genres.

 Shipping is free!

 Good luck.

 Martha.

Good afternoon, I was wondering if any of you has a list of great 3rd-5th
grade children's books organized by genres. Or if you know a website that
has one. I was informed today that If I want the school to buy these books,
the list needs to be ready by tomorrow. Thank you.
