Hi all,
 
I, too, HIGHLY recommend Elaine's book Smart Answers to Tough Questions. I  
am in a school where some people are married to the anthology reader and its 
150  types of tests. I respect everyone's viewpoints but having seen for myself 
what  real literature does for kids minds...whew! There is just no way I can 
defend  using only an anthology for reading instruction. Elaine's book gives me 
 research based responses for my colleagues and my parents.
 
It is a weird thing to say, but having a solid, research based,  easy-to-read 
book like this makes me not feel so alone out there!
 
Thanks a lot to Elaine. It's one of the best things I've picked up all  
summer!
