[mou-net] Osprey, Grass Lake, Ramsey County
There were two osprey, both preening for at least 20 minutes, in tall trees at Grass Lake in Shoreview this evening. They were four or five trees apart, not interacting, and obviously not on a nest. [mou-net] Horned Grebe Windfall ~ Hennepin Co.
Here in the Hennepin County Metro we had severe thunderstorms last night that lasted well into this morning. I checked just two lakes in Minneapolis this morning Harriet & Calhoun and was delighted to see a windfall of "151" Horned Grebes on those lakes. There were no other large number counts just the continued good numbers of regular duck species. [mou-net] Smith's Longspurs
Fellow birders, If anyone looks for the Smith's Longspurs in the Nicollet location today can you please post if you saw them or not. I was going to look for the birds yesterday but had another engagement. I would love to see this mysterious species but it is quite a drive from Minneapolis so I probably won't try unless someone else sees them today.
