[mou-net] Bird Hike near Redwing this Sunday
Hi all, I will be leading a MRVAC field trip this Sunday (8/24) in the Canon River bottoms area near Redwing. All are welcome, no reservations and please no calls to let me know you are coming. Directions: From Hwy 52, head towards Redwing. Continue down the long hill past the turn off for the Treasure Island Casino. Turn left after that turn off (no, not into that driveway) onto CR 46 (at the bottom of the hill, not the top of the hill!). Stay right along the river at the fork. You are now on Collischan Road (for your GPS). Follow the road for about 2.5 miles. Right after two houses on the left, the road will fork. Take the left fork into the parking area for the trail head. The trail is a level abandoned railroad bed, but I have not gotten out there this year to see what condition this unmaintained trail is in. If you bring a lunch, and conditions are good, we may head to a second location after lunch. If you are late, just follow the trail and you will find us. Target birds include: cuckoos, Cerulean Warbler, Acadian Flycatcher, Scarlet Tanager, early migratants, and other deep woods birds. Expect mosquitos. Both terns observed 7:05 to 7:25PM Wednesday evening - very hyperactive - seemed to hit the water every minute or so. Ron Cathy Huber Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
