The three black scoters were still present on Lake Waconia this evening at

They were visible from Lake Waconia Regional Park at long-range scoping

[mou-net] Long-tailed Duck-Tiger Lake, Carver county

2016-11-02 Thread William Marengo
As of 12:30pm, there is a single winter plumaged female Long-tailed Duck on
Tiger Lake in Carver county.

Tiger Lake is located just west of Norwood Young America on Highway 212. The
lake can be scanned from a wildlife management area on the west side of Tiger
Lake.

The bird is in the middle of the lake together with numerous Coots, Ring-necked
ducks, Bufflehead and other waterfowl.

[mou-net] The Saint Paul Sora

2016-11-02 Thread JULIAN SELLERS
A resident of the area has been seeing the bird for more than a month. He
thinks it has a broken wing. He has tried to capture it, intending to take it
to the Wildlife Rehab Center, but couldn't get close enough to it. He has seen
it flutter straight up about 16 inches. It has been feeding in lawns, but will
probably not survive much longer.

[mou-net] Black Scoters ~ Hennepin Co.

2016-11-02 Thread Conny Brunell
This morning there were 2 Black Scoters on Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis.
They were close together and were seen at rest, diving, and flying. The
Long-tailed Duck was still present and the weather conditions were again
ideal to scope these birds out in the middle of the lake.

Currently looking at a female/immature Surf Scoter on Lake
Independence in western Hennepin Co. Bird is on east side of lake and
most easily seen from boat launch area of Baker Park Reserve (scope
needed to see well).

As of 10:00am there is a trio of Black Scoters on Lake Waconia, Carver county.
They are viewable from Lake Waconia Regional Park on the southeast side of the
lake. The birds were to the northwest from the park and were quite distant but
readily identifiable. Scope is mandatory.

[mou-net] Brownsville?

2016-11-02 Thread kkraco
Contemplating a trip down the river on Saturday ... anything happening down in
Brownsville, or points north of there, either side?

Mainly coots or are there still some interesting ducks, swans? Haven't done too
much birding this fall, feel out of touch with what's where, when.

Thanks much,
