[mou-net] Black Swan

2016-12-19 Thread Terence Brashear
I am not sure how I can make this any clearer. Further Black Swan Comments
will get the person posting it on a moderated status for MOU-NET.

Get outside in the cold fresh air, and find some birds.

Subject: [mou-net] swan photo?

I am looking for a good photo of the Black Swan that was being seen on Lake
Harriet. It would be worth a byline in the Strib.

Thanks.

[mou-net] Intergrade Flicker/Rice Co.

2016-12-19 Thread
We photographed an apparent intergrade between the races of the Northern
Flicker on Northfield’s Christmas Bird Count on Saturday. Images are on my
blog. Note the red feathers in the nape—typical of eastern yellow-shafted
birds, but also the gray sides of the face and reddish tail (and wing)
feathers found on western red-shafted birds:

The bird was with a normal Yellow-shafted Flicker. It has not been seen
since the count, nor had it been noticed before.
