[mou-net] MBWeeks & Weekends update

2017-06-25 Thread Kim Richard Eckert
There was a recent update of the MBWbirds website (http://mbwbirds.co
m), which includes the registration status of the
Minnesota Birding Weeks & Weekends (MBWs) remaining on this season’s schedule,
along with the summaries of the completed MBWs. Although all the MBWeeks are
currently filled, there are still vacancies on most of the remaining MBWeekends.

In addition, several updates have been added to the Birder’s Guide to Minnesota
section, which is now divided into four more manageable pages. Also, the
Minnesota Sewage Ponds page cites the new and very useful link on the MOU
website (http://moumn.org/avian/overlay.php
), which includes maps to all 400 sewage
ponds now listed on this page; note that the MBWbirds.com list does not include
several non-municipal ponds found in the MOU website’s compilation.

Finally, note that the “Birding by Hindsight” series of articles have been
compiled into book form, and all the author’s royalties are donated to Friends
of Sax-Zim Bog (http://saxzim.org ).

As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

(Please note: MBWs are offered in association with the MOU; we were originally
known as MOU Birding Weekends when we started in 1986. MBW participants are
still expected to be members of MOU, which receives a portion of MBW receipts
in return for these updates on mou-net and in the newsletter.)

[mou-net] Felton Prairie Say's Phoebe still present (Clay County)

2017-06-25 Thread Doug Kieser
The Say's Phoebe found yesterday by Kevin Manley and Todd Eggenberger was
still present on 170th Street about .7 mile south of 140 Avenue, near the
giant crane. Seen northeast of here in the gravel pit area were Lark
Sparrow, Loggerhead Shrike and Black-billed Magpie. Thanks to Joel Claus
for getting us in the right spots.

[mou-net] King Rails at Ottawa Impoundment - Grant Co.

2017-06-25 Thread lmsir...@comcst.net
On Saturday the King Rails were seen on 250th St just east of 340th Ave. This
is about 1/4 mile west of where they had been seen for several days.
Since 250th is flooded in that area you must approach on 250th St from the west
off 340th Ave.
Thanks to Steve Millard for this info.
