[mou-net] Scott County warbler activity

2019-05-23 Thread Richard Hunt
I could pretty much repeat Mary Westra’s earlier report (less the scarlet
tanagers) but rather for Scott County. I’ve been birding Cleary Lake Regional
Park in Prior Lake lately and the warbler activity hasn’t seemed to slow down
any apart from the yellow-rumps being almost completely replaced by the
redstarts. An even 50 sp. today is enough to keep this intermediate birder
motivated. Guess I should say, intermediate “at best”! ;-)

Was seen today at the same location at 9:30 AM and again at 12:30 PM. It was
buried in a large maple tree in the afternoon, but detected by its calling
(who-cooks-for-you). If you look (or listen) for it, I suggest you start along
36th St between 26th and 27th Ave South.

[mou-net] Warblers! Ramsey County

2019-05-23 Thread Mary Westra
It must have been a fall-out. Within a couple hours this morning along west
side of White Bear Lake from Manitou Island to Clark Ave: scarlet tanagers
(6-8), catbirds (10-12), redstarts, yellow, common yellowthroat,
chestnut-sided, black & white, blackpoll, Nashville,blackburnian,
Golden-winged. Plus green heron, hairies, loons, wood ducks & babes and orioles
everywhere. Glorious!
