Re: [mou-net] No Shorebirds

2020-07-20 Thread Doug Kieser
The traditional shorebird area in Carver county west of New Germany
currently has good shorebird habitat, although it has been drying up fairly
quickly despite regular rain.
Least Sandpipers have been present in good numbers with lesser numbers of
up to 10 shorebird species reported recently. Most of the shorebirds have
been on the west side of the wetland south of county 30 between Yale and
Yancy.

Chet, you undoubtedly receive daily rare bird email from eBird or see the posts
on MOU’s web page . The most recent email noted a report of a Black-bellied
Plover in Big Stone County. I often check out the posters’ complete lists to
see what time of day the persons were out and/or to see what else they saw.
The list that was posted was amazing for quality and quantity of birds. Only
problem is it’s quite a hike,

I birded Coleman Lake... just about grown in with grass. Very little
potential shorebird habitat.
Birded Purgatory Creek... too full of water. No shore.
Any shorebird reports greatly appreciated.
