Re: [mou-net] Flicker

Hi,

Regarding the Janssen book, there is an updated 2019 version. I received it
last year as a gift. I don’t have the original, but Janssen’s preface suggests
substantial updates (top of page xix).

Janssen is good, but dated. MOU occurrence maps, Janssen's descendents, are
current and constantly being updated.

Re: [mou-net] Christmas Bird Counts

2020-12-13 Thread Steve Weston
I have several inquiries about how to tell what counts need help. First,
start at http://moumn.org/CBC/locations_map.php . You will be able to see
the date of the count and the contact information for the compiler, who can
give you more information.
The problem is that of 85 counts, I probably have a solid handle on the
need for participants for about 20% of the counts. And, have little
information on an equal number. The other 60% I probably have a good idea.
In the Metro area most of the counts don't need or probably don't need new
participants. I suspect that there may be limited openings on the Afton,
Hastings, Redwing counts. Outstate, I have heard that Grand Rapids, Little
Falls, Mille Lacs, Rice Lake NWR, and Uppgaard WMA need volunteers. Most
SW Minnesota counts are small and can use volunteers. Many of the other
counts I do not know what's happening. Compilers can put in a note about
their need or lack of need of participants, but few do.
