Download the newsletter here: http://www.saintpaulaudubon.org/publications
for the 'program guide' for the SPAS
FEB and MAR online meetings.

There is also an article about the 50 yrs of May "Warbler Weekend" based at
Villa Maria and now at Hok-Si-La Park just N of Lake City. Bird counts will
continue this year with a reduced "weekend" (May 08-10) where small groups
can still contribute to the count w/o guided hikes. No registration and no
food provided this year and it is free.

Many of you know Julian Sellers who is a long-time volunteer with SPAS. His
bio is included that mentions his early friendship with Allen and Helen
Cruickshank, his coordination of American Kestel nest boxes in regional
parks, and his extensive recordings of bird songs.

All SPAS mtgs are free and open to everyone. February 11 Thursday: "Hidden
Gems of the North Shore," featuring photographer and naturalist Phil Hartley
/ Two Harbors :: Minnesota Master Naturalist Phil Hartley will use photos
to show us 20 or so locations along the North Shore that are not actually
hidden, but better known and used by locals than tourists. These locations,
running from Duluth to Silver Bay, are great spots for nature lovers and
bird watchers and are generally just enough off the beaten path that "social
distancing" is rarely an issue. Phil's presentation will use photos to
highlight how you know you are there and then some of the most interesting
features and birding opportunities of each location.

March 11 Thursday: "Prairie Haven - Prairie and Savanna Restoration on an
Old Wisconsin Farm," with Marcie and Mike O'Connor.

Re: [mou-net] MN DNR Bald Eagle Cam is on again

2021-02-01 Thread Klein, Tom (DNR)
A small correction to the status of last year's nesting (mentioned below): one
chick (the last to hatch) perished after a couple of weeks. Of the two that
successfully fledged, one died shortly after fledging when it collided with a
power line. The fate of the remaining chick is unknown. (note: banding had to
be abandoned for this covid-year clutch).

There is a new young male paired with the female this year. Not a lot of
activity yet. Last year three nestlings fledged.
