[mou-net] Common Redpoll, Anoka County

2021-03-01 Thread Refsnider
This afternoon we noticed a single COMMON REDPOLL three times on the
tray of our backyard black oil sunflower seed feeder.  It was our first
redpoll sighting of the winter.

[mou-net] Regular species for which we ask for documentation for the Seasonal Reports

2021-03-01 Thread Paul Budde
First, thank you to everyone who contributes data for the four seasonal
reports that the MOU publishes in The Loon. As the spring season (March -
May) commences today, I wanted to take the opportunity to remind observers
that for some species that can be difficult to identify visually, the
seasonal report team requires documentation for birds found outside of
expected windows of occurrence in the state. Here is a current list of all
the species and their windows.

* White-rumped Sandpiper in fall: Undocumented reports of fall migrant
White-rumpeds prior to mid-August are not published.

* Short-billed Dowitcher in spring: Reports of Short-billed
Dowitchers prior to 1 May without details are not published. (See The Loon
89:160-161.)

* Short-billed Dowitcher in fall: Any reports of Short-billed
Dowitchers after 15 September without details are not published. (See The
Loon 89:160-161.)

* Long-billed Dowitcher in summer: Any reports of Long-billed
Dowitchers during June or July without details are not published. (See The
Loon 89:160-161).

* Empidonax flycatchers in spring and fall: During spring and fall
migration, undocumented records of silent Empidonax flycatchers are not
included in this report. Observers are encouraged to include identification
details in their reports.

* Orange-crowned Warbler in fall: Undocumented August reports are
excluded.

We are asking for these details for both records submitted directly via the
MOU website AND for any eBird records. By "documentation", we don't mean
that an RQD needs to be on file; it's sufficient to include your details in
the notes associated with the record. Thanks for your help in documenting
these individuals!
