[mou-net] bird id help please?

2018-10-13 Thread Tim Wahl
Anyone willing to help me with ids on
photos of 3 (sadly dead) birds for me?

2 downtown mpls building/window collisions
on Sept.18,19 (maybe Swainson's and a
immature/female Nashville??)

1 car victim (not mine) on Oct.11 near
St.Paul campus (maybe green heron...but
looks so small close up)

Let me know if you could take a look and
I'll email pics.

Thanks!

I just want to say thanks much to Joanna for the details on d-bird and
related, Elizabeth
for the d-bird link in the first place, and Tami for fixing my mis-id on
the woodcock - MOU
(you all) comes through again! Passing this on back to MOU because I know,
for sure,
that there are few others out there that can use the d-bird info. - Tim

[mou-net] Snipe? downtown MPLS

2018-04-04 Thread Tim Wahl
If I recall correctly, there is a group who keeps
tab on birds killed in building collisions in
downtown Minneapolis.

There was a snipe(?) on the sidewalk between
Candyland and Bombay Palace on 7th st.
yesterday at around 3:20pm.

I have a picture if anyone is interested.

Also, what is the suggested way of reporting
such random sightings without involving the whole list
(if reporting is, indeed, useful or desired)?

Thanks - Tim

[mou-net] help w hawk id?

2017-09-24 Thread Tim Wahl
We've been watching a hawk devouring a young red
squirrel in our back yard and, as rather green
birders, are having trouble with the id. We think
it is an immature goshawk, but suppose it could
be an immature coopers. I have a rather poor picture
of the bird. Would someone be willing to take a
look and help with id?

Thanks - hope this is not against posting rules.
