[mou-net] Coopers Hawk chasing Pigeon
Yesterday afternoon as I was driving on Hwy 100 in Edina near the Minnehaha Creek I observed a Pigeon flying among the cars. I thought that that was strange, but as it dashed over the sound walls, I realized it had a Coopers Hawk right on its tail. I do not know the outcome of the chase. [mou-net] Coopers hawk/starling
At 3:45 today as I was driving east on 89th Ave (?) in Fridley (the street fronting Springbrook Nature Center) and about 100 yards west of Springbrook Blvd, a commercial area, I saw a young Coopers hawk in pursuit of two starlings. The starlings split off and the hawk followed one, overtaking it quickly. At the very last second the intended prey collapsed and dropped. The hawk did a frontal roll in pursuit and both dropped from sight. The quest was apparently unsuccessful however as the hawk rose into sight, empty handed. It spiraled away to the north. Thomas P.
