A nice variety of shorebirds were observed late yesterday (5/17) on the
mudflats on the north end of Upper Twin Lake in extreme southern Hubbard County.
Species included 1 Hudsonian Godwit, 3 Black-bellied Plovers, 12 Short-billed
Dowitchers, plus Wilson's Phalaropes, Semipalmated Plovers, Least Sandpipers,
etc.
We observed these birds from the end of a two-track road that goes east from
Upper Twin Lake Road. Scopes are required. Also present was a small flock of
Caspian Terns.
