[mou-net] Tropical/couch's Kingbird

2015-06-27 Thread KIm Eckert
Flew off at 7:17pm and now not visible. Was still by marker 36 by the picnic
table and quite visible in snags on and near the large cottonwood where Bruce
Fall first reported it Wednesday. Sorry forgot to sign my last post.

I was at the previously reported Tropical/Couch's Kingbird today. Denny &
Barb martin were also there as well as others. We had a far off look at
the bird until about 10:30 when it disappeared. We looked for almost an
hour with no success. There is an 'island' of woods surrounded by the
mowed field and it might have been in the back out of sight, but that is
speculation. We were discussing where else this species had been seen in
the 5 state area and the only state that I found it in is Wisconsin. It is
listed as Tropical/Couch's Kingbird. A Couch's was found in New York City
in winter 2014/2015. Michigan & Quebec also have records. I only did a
quick search

[mou-net] Tropical/Couch's Kingbird Scott County

2015-06-25 Thread MOU admin
(Posted by Andrew D. Smith via moumn.org)

The kingbird was relocated by Tom Tustison at approximately 9:10 AM, at its
original location described by Bruce Fall. Apparently it wandered widely last
evening away from this location, and future observers may need to do much
searching. Tom first noted the bird as I was approaching the location near
point
#36. We watched for quite awhile before being joined by Dedrick Benz. All of us
continued observing the bird until 10:27 AM. During this time it moved
"downhill"
towards point #37. No vocalizations were heard during this time.
