[mou-net] We need a few Birders!

2022-12-12 Thread Steve Weston
The 123rd Annual Christmas Bird Count starts in a couple of days and we
need more birders to help us cover the count. Check out moumn.org/CBC for
where and when counts are happening.
In the Metro Area:counts that are looking for people:
Lakeville (this Friday) This is a brand new count.
West Hennepin (this Saturday) Another brand new count
Bloomington (this Saturday) still has areas that are not covered.

Outstate counts: there are counts that only a few people (<6) are keeping
alive. You can have a significant impact:
Hibbing on the Iron Range in northern MN (on January 1)
Lamberton in SW MN (on 12/27)
Murray Co. in SW MN (after 12/21 - date not set)
Pipestone in SW MN (on 1/2)
Rice Lake NWR in North Central MN (on 12/31)
Upgaard WMA in North Central MN (on 1/1)

Are you a new birder and you don't think you will do a good job? A lot of
the really experienced birders would love to have somebody along. Another
set of eyes will find more birds. Are you outstate? Maybe way outstate? You
can participate in a count that if you don't show up, no one is going to be
counting the birds in the sector you could easily drive. Live in a count
circle and love birds, but you are not going to be able to get out in the
bad weather this winter? You can contribute by counting the birds at your
feeder. Call or email the contact for the circle you can help.

Questions? Let me know, Looking for more people for your count? Let me know.
