[mou-net] golden-crowned sparrow (duluth)
Duluth's golden-crowned sparrow was seen twice yesterday: once in the morning, then again at around 3:30 p.m. I scattered seed on our deck last night and have seen the bird again today between 12 and 12:30 p.m. This is the first that I have seen the bird on consecutive days since December. A brief siting of immature golden-crowned sparrow (duluth version) at about 9 a.m. today. The bird was ground-feeding with a junco and song sparrow. Brad Snelling 21 E. [mou-net] Golden-crowned sparrow (Duluth)
Another brief appearance in our yard between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. today. As elusive as this bird has been, it has now been seen in each of the past four months. [mou-net] Golden-crowned sparrow (Duluth)
The immature golden-crowned sparrow was seen at our feeders in Duluth from 7:15 to 7:45 this morning. It is the first time that I have seen the bird since January 19. It is snowing this morning, as it has been on almost all of the days that this bird has appeared here. Brad Snelling 21 E. [mou-net] Golden crowned sparrow (Duluth)
The immature golden crowned sparrow made one of its infrequent visits to our feeder this morning at around 7:45. It was the first sighting of the bird since January 19. It's occurred to me that most of this bird's appearances have been on mornings when it has snowed or is snowing. I wonder what, if anything, you would make of that? Regards, Brad Snelling 21 E. [mou-net] Golden-crowned Sparrow Duluth info
I observed the Golden-crowned Sparrow Saturday morning January 17th from about 9:45 until around 10:00 AM at the College St address feeders. The bird then flew west across College Street at rooftop height. There are some tall white pines in the back yards of houses across the street and some brushy areas with cedars. I walked up and down Kent Road (the next road west of College street) to see if I could see the bird or find any feeders. Unfortunately there is not an alley to view the back yards here. There may be other feeders in the backyards in the area that are not visible, and the bird has been using these sources for food, water, and cover during this gap in sightings at the College street location. The recent cold snap and one more forecast this weekend is testing our overwintering sparrows. I have a White-throated Sparrow still at my feeders present since late Nov. and there have been reports in Duluth of Am Tree, and Fox Sparrows as well.. all have been at feeders. regards, Don Kienholz Duluth, MN _ Windows Live™ Hotmail®: Chat. [mou-net] golden crowned sparrow - duluth
I have an immature golden crowned sparrow coming to my feeder at 21 E. College St. in Duluth this morning. I'm assuming that it is the same individual that was visiting just before Christmas.
