[mou-net] Looking for Owls in Sax-Zim Saturday
I may be too late for all the owl fun, but I'll be looking for owls in the the Sax-Zim Bog on Saturday. Most any kind would be a lifer for me. If you happen to see one, I'd appreciate a text. I'll try to post any significant findings on here. [mou-net] Looking for Owls
Hello, My name is Matt Stenger I am currently doing an ABA North American Big Year. Currently I am torn between coming to Deluth to look for owls (specifically, Boreal, Northern Hawk and Great Gray and any others of course) wintering finches and perhaps a Gyrfalcon or chasing a few old reports of some rareties in Florida. Is mid Feb around the time of the birding festival the best time to come up or would now be better bet? I am traveling for the year, living out of my car as I have no budget for lodging and very little more for food. I hope to prove that even an average guy with limited resources can achieve an ABA big year on a fist full of spare change and a dream. You can contact me at 716bi...@gmail.com Also you can check out my blog at www.716birds.com Thanks for any assistance you are able to offer Matt Stenger Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
[mou-net] looking for owls
I've been hearing some Great Horned Owls around the property and would love to find the nest and keep an eye on it as the chicks develop. I've narrowed down a general area based on hearing calls from a few different nights. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding a nest? I though maybe the first calls of the night might come from near the nest. Any input would be appreciated? -- Joshua Bailly Research Coordinator for Prairie Biofuel/Wildlife Research Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve 2660 Fawn Lake Dr. N.E.
