I counted at DeLaSalle high school on Nicollet Island. I had one bird go in, with possibly a second, too. Is this the result of a late cold spring, birds are still on the nest? I ended up with 390 Swifts at St. John the Baptist Church in Dayton(Hennepin County) tonight. I had the 3 pairs in my 3 towers on Friday and 280 at Handke Magnet Elementary School in Elk River yesterday. Tonight I'm doing St Johns Catholic Church in Dayton and there's some here. I counted 66 birds going down the chimney at the school across the street in St Paul. But they have been roosting there all spring & summer for many years. These are all non-breeding birds unless the breeding pairs are heading to the Amazon already. I wouldn’t go back to the same place again. Someone on this list might have seen swifts in their neighborhood in W metro and could tell give you the location to do a count there. I know they are seenby many in different locations, but not all of them are counted.
