David I regularly download and install the latest nightly mozilla on
David both my home and office win2k systems. For about the last two weeks
David or so, I haven't been able to get past the splash screen on my home
David system without it bombing. On my office system, however, it usually
David works fine. I always do the talkback builds, so I would guess this
David data is being returned, but I would have to think there's something
David wrong with my system setup that is causing it to bomb every time.

David Can someone suggest something simple I can do to get the nightly to
David work better on my home system?

Well, I discovered one thing that might have caused Mozilla to bomb. While
installing and running it, I was running mysql. I tried killing mysql, then
running mozilla (not reinstalling), and it ran fine. I haven't tried
restarting mysql yet.

none It's kind of a pain but have you deleted your profile recently and
none uninstalled mozilla? That generally will get you back on the straight

I've tried uninstalling, but it doesn't make a difference. The uninstall
from the start menu fails with a missing registry item. The
MozillaUninstaller.exe from the installation succeeds, but it says it's
uninstalling mozilla 0.9.1, but it still fails again when I reinstall it.

So, how exactly do I delete my profile, holding on to my plugins?

Copy the plugins folder to a temporary location, then delete your
profile folder and all mozilla folders and \windows\mozreg.dat and that
should give you a clean start. Re-install and then copy your plugins
folder back.

The nightlies have been getting usuable again since about the 22nd so
this really shouldn't be happening.

Sorry,

Remember to grab your plugins before you uninstall.

A little more than a month ago I had the same problem. Installed Nightly
regular (once a week) on my home systeem and from one moment got not
gett it running after the splashscreen. Uninstalled, defrag and install
again and now everything is up and running very satisfactory.
