Re: Utility to put messages on queues. Ooops

2004-05-14 Thread Wyatt, T. Rob
Tim,

No problem from me. You'll probably get some good feedback from the list.
In fact, here's some now...

I see you've included a blank Page 2 in your docs. This is good and will
make the package more attractive to IBM who are keen to do such things. I
would recommend however that you put "This Page Intentionally Left Blank" on
Page 2 so it looks even more like a native IBM document. Might speed up the
Support Pac registration considerably. ;-)

Re: Character Code Page question

2004-05-14 Thread Beinert, William
TBL files (at least the single byte character sets) are just 256 byte translation
tables.
Where incoming byte x'00' is translated to TBL[0], incoming x'FF' translated to
TBL[255].

If you need to see what they look like, see Appendix F of the Application Programming
Reference(SC33-1673).

URL of a website which displays coded character set byte values:
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/clientaccess/codepages/

For a complete list and description of CDRA and all CCSIDs registered in
CDRA, see: Character Data Representation Architecture: Reference & Registry
(SC09-2190-00)

I have a little utility that will list the translations you can import into a
spreadsheet, if you want it.

MQINQ in a clustered environment

2004-05-14 Thread Mike Davidson

Setup:
- QMGR1 resides on LPAR1
- QMGR2 resides on LPAR2
- QMGR1 and QMGR2 are in cluster CLUS1
- Q1 is a clustered queue that exists on both QMGR1 and QMGR2

Scenario:
We have a CICS application (connected to QMGR1) and it needs to do an MQINQ on Q1 on QMGR2. Is this possible?

I have my doubts b/c of the fact that Q1 also exists locally on QMGR1 and I know the nature of MQ clustering causes the local instance of Q1 to have "priority". (As mentioned on page 57 of the MQ Clusters manual.)

Thanks in advance.

Mysterious Issuance of Display Indoubt Threads

2004-05-14 Thread June Lawton
Question conning MQSeries 5.3. on the mainframe. We have a 'twi-light zone'
situation! When the MSTR address space is brought up we issue some
commands, in particular, to display indoubt threads. I know certain
commands like the ARCHIVE LOG command also has the display indoubt threads
embedded in it.

When I browse the MSTR address space during the day I see that the display
indoubt threads command is somehow being issued automatically. No one is
issuing this! What could be causing it to happen. Could some kind of
condition be kicking it off?

Apologies for the slightly off-topic post.

Has anyone successfully used Candle's Universal Agent Data Provider API from a .NET program (C# or VB.NET)?

I'm trying to write a service that goes out an periodically "pings" our queue managers and then report the results up to our Candle hub.   I cannot seem to get the dp_FormatBufferData call to work.  I'm hoping someone else has work through this and would be will to share their results.

Re: Shared vs non-shared/private queues

2004-05-14 Thread Morag Hughson
Carol,

The terms "non-shared" and "private" are used interchangeably, although
"private" is the official term. They are simply the local queues you knew
about before you had Parallel Sysplex support in MQ (that is shared
queues). We just needed terminology to distinguish between them.

A local queue - QLOCAL - can be a shared queue or a private queue

A private local queue - QLOCAL QSGDISP(PRIVATE)
- stores it's messages on pagesets
- can be a cluster queue (although is not exclusively just a cluster queue)
- Can have messages > 63K

A shared local queue - QLOCAL QSGDISP(SHARED)
- stores it's messages in the CF
- can be a cluster queue (although is not exclusively just a cluster queue)
- Cannot have messages > 63K

Cheers
Morag

MQQueue.CurrentDepth with MQSeries Automation Classes for ActiveX

2004-05-14 Thread David Kendall

  Set oQueue = oQueueManager.AccessQueue(strQueueName, MQOO_BROWSE Or
MQOO_INQUIRE)

  Dim lMessageCount As Integer
  lMessageCount = oQueue.CurrentDepth

... The last line raises the following error

MQAX200.MQQueue::GetCurrentDepth CompletionCode = 2, ReasonCode = 2067,
ReasonName = MQRC_SELECTOR_ERROR

Searching Google with tokens from the error message doesn't seem to
result in much information.

Can anyone shed any light as to why this is happening?

There is probably a way to suppress it appearing on the log, but it may not
