Re: AW: 1 Queue Manager for both shared private queues?
Stefan, I am referring to a shared queue that resides in the coupling facility. Thanks, Lew In a message dated 7/18/2003 4:06:22 AM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: What are we talking about? a shared queue that resides in the coupling facility, or a local queue that is shared by applications? regards stefan -Urspr|ngliche Nachricht- Von: Lew Kaufman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Gesendet: Donnerstag, 17. Can a single QManager be used to access both shared private queues? Our experts claims that b IBM recommends NOT to use a single Queue Manager to access both Shared and Private Queues.b I am questioning whether this is really true. Based on their claim, my project is planning to define 2 Queue Managers on a single LPAR. One Queue Manager would support applications that use shared queues, and the other would support applications that use private queues. Is this a good idea? Thanks in advance. Re: AW: 1 Queue Manager for both shared private queues?
Stefan, Thanks for your response. This confirms my thoughts. My team has not spoken directly with IBM. We are dealing with second-hand information. We will keep researching. Thanks again, Lew In a message dated 7/18/2003 3:39:18 AM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Lew, you can use shared and nonshared (local) queues in the same queuemanager. i do not know why ibm recommends not to do so. maybe you should ask them for the reasons. there where some problems with mq 53 and shared queues in the past, so maybe safety is a reason, in case of errors/problems with shared queues not to affect applications that do not use shared queues, but a lot of bugs are already fixed so i am not sure if this is still a reason to seperate. think of a cics that runs 2 applications, one with local queues on qmgra, one with shared queues on qmgr. where will you connect? where will your batch jobs connect (do you use the default queuemanager) ? i would use a single qmgr unless there is more than an unfounded recommendation. regards stefan -Urspr|ngliche Nachricht- Von: Lew Kaufman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Gesendet: Donnerstag, 17.
