AW: AW: MO71 Command Fail/OK field not working.

2004-03-09 Thread Pfister Norbert
Hi Benjamin,

your command syntax is wrong:

To activate a batch, you have to type cmd.exe /c

In your case:
cmd.exe /cd:\utils\notify.bat QMName

or in MO71 even
cmd.exe /cd:\utils\notify.bat %m
according to Paul Clarke's mqmon.pdf chapter 8 - Queue Manager monitoring .

Hi Nobert,

thanks for taking the time to reply. What Windows version are you using? We
use XP. Here is my command string in the Command OK field:
d:\utils\notify.bat QMName. I also tried your syntax by typing cmd.exe
/d:\utils\notify.bat QMName. With the same result.

If I understand correctly, the string in this field is put into a system
call system(). Could this be a XP specific bug?

Hi Benjamin,

we did successfully via VisualBasic script:

cmd.exe /cmonitor.vbs ok n %m %l
cmd.exe /cmonitor.vbs fail y %m %l
where the parms are:
' 1 - what: ok or fail
' 2 - MsgBox: y for yes, otherwise only to logfile
' 3 - QMGR-Name
' 4-n Location / Title

Of course I had to activate the Windows scripting host on my workstation.

Hi All,

Again many thanks to all those who helped me located the key in monitoring
MQ on z/OS with MO71.

Now I am testing using MO71 to monitor our MQ network employe the command
Fail field to run a batch job which sends out emails. But this seems not
working. I also tried the command amqsput TESTQ TESTQM mail.txt, with
the same result, got the msg command submitted, but nothing is done.

Has anyone successfully used this field to execute a command? I wonder
what I could be doing wrong.

thanks for your help.

Merry Christmas everybody.

Yet again I am looking for beta testers of my MO71 supportpac. If you were
kind enough to offer to test the last version then I will assume you would
like the new one unless you tell me different.

The features of the new one include :-

Multiple network views
Network view supports clusters,processes namelists
Save selections on list refresh
No automatic object refresh preference option
Margin and overlap settings saved across invocations
Allow option for no main windows in taskbar
Existing window icon displayed on command menu
Export allowed for (nearly) all dialogs in text mode
Colour Scheme support
List titles buttons/Ruled lists (prettier that's all)
Main icon goes red if any QM in error (switchable)
MQSC window logs the file chosen from file(?)
New colour setting for selected items in a list window
New action to reset status of a location/all locations
Add locale selection to preferences dialog - codepage support
highlight selected QM links in network view

Plus one or two bug fixes which we don't like to talk about.

Many thanks to all of you who suggested many of these enhancements.

Have a great 2003,

P.

Hi all,

I have installed WebSphere MQ Version 5.3 CSD1 on a Win2000 Server.

But the service IBM MQSeries (Description: Provides startup and
maintenance services for WebSphere MQ) hangs after starting.

The program behind that service: Program Files\IBM\WebSphere
MQ\bin\amqsvc.exe .

User-Account is both in mqm and admin group.

Windows is not my preferred platform, so I consulted the NT-admin of my
department (who hasn't MQ knowledge).

He stated, that he had to kill the process of the service.

One year ago I had installed an V5.2 QMGR on NT4.0 SP4 - without any
problems.

Who can help ?

Startup MQ V5.3 problem after installation on W2000 server

2002-12-23 Thread Pfister Norbert

AW: Client conversion from Windows to OS/390

2002-12-05 Thread Pfister Norbert
The application on the second OS/390 platform does not do a 'get' with
convert and thus the message is still in ascii code.

His problem may be that he can't influence the 'get'-Application, for it's
in another company or something else.

So he does have to convert before leaving his company.

John,

Kevin is right. The data conversion is done on the get.
The conversion on the get will not take place if the message descriptor
format field on the put is set to MQFMT_NONE. Make sure it is set to
MQFMT_STRING. The data conversion also does not automatically take place
and must be requested on the get.

Bob

I believe that there is no such thing as a PMO of Convert. The 'getting'
application should do the convert. Havign the 'getting' application do the
conversion makes much more sense as the 'putting' application has no idea
where the message will end up (platform wise)

If the final destination application isn't behaving and converting then a
channel between the 2 OS/390 Qmgrs could do it.but it may be easier to
change the applicaton so that it behaves itself. :)

Failing that, maybe you could write an application that sat in the middle
that did the conversion for it?

Hello,

I have a client on a Windows NT platform that is putting a message onto a
remote queue defined on a OS/390 platform, which in turn sends the message
to a second OS/390 platform.

The application on the second OS/390 platform does not do a 'get' with
convert and thus the message is still in ascii code.

What do I need to do to convert the message to EBCIDC before the message
is
'put' from the client.

Thanks,

John

Re: Unidentifiable reason code in DLH

2002-10-18 Thread Pfister Norbert
Thanks all for your reply,

Stefan did the right deal !

I could find the message:

---
CSQ2001I ?MQP2 CSQ2QCP0 OTMA REJECTED MESSAGE -
APPLICATION ERROR, SENSE CODE=001A0019, XCFGNAME=IMSXCF XCFMNAME=IMPA
TPIPE=CSQ00034

---

My colleage administrating IMS showed me, that the IMS-application SD341P
had an error

and therefore OTMA rejected the message. So the batch program did not
recognize that.

Stefan, thanks for your help, it was great !

Hi Norbert,
DLH reasoncodes in the range between 300 and 399 are actually feedback codes
generated by OTMA. You have to subtract MQFB_ERROR from that value (300),
which gives you the OTMA sense code. In your case that would be 26(dec);
converted to Hex that is 1A. Now, chapter 4 of the OTMA Guide and reference
available at http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/ims/shelf/v6pdf2/OTMA_V6.pdf
contains a list of OTMA sense codes and their cause.
You should also see a message CSQ2001I in the SYSOUT of your MSTR
started task that gives you additional information.
The format of this message is as follows:

CSQ2001I csect-name OTMA REJECTED MESSAGE - APPLICATION ERROR, SENSE
CODE=code, XCFGNAME=gname XCFMNAME=mname TPIPE=tpipename

Hope that gets you on the right track.
Cheers,
Stefan

Hi all,

we have a batch assembler program on our OS/390 , which is preparing
messages coming from outer space,
... uuppss ... , sorry, from distributed platforms, to go to the IMS bridge
.
In detail it transforms the first bytes of the message data, a IMS lenth
field from character to hex.

Sometimes messages go to the DLQ.

I surely want to stop this awful behaviour, but since the reason code is
326(decimal), I can't interpret it !

CICS problem with CSQCTRUE

2002-07-04 Thread Pfister Norbert

Hi all,

we have sometimes storage problems in our CICS 4.1 environment.

The UDSA below the 16MB-line becomes sometimes near full (generating
short-on-storage) and my colleague for CICS has identified module CSQCTRUE,
which uses a lot of its storage.

But when I look in the module library SCSQLOAD, it shows me address mode 31
and residency mode ANY .

So why doesn't the module use it ?

Thanks
