Re: Windows XP SP2

I personally haven't, but I do know SP2 turns on the Windows Firewall
by default which could cause problems.

Way to discover MQSeries servers?

2003-10-22 Thread Robert Martin
Is there an API function in MQSeries that can be called to discover
MQSeries servers? I have a feeling something like this doesn't exist,
but a fellow engineer asked me to find out, and from the documenation I
have read I can't seem to find it if it exists.

AMQ8041 Error

2003-08-14 Thread Robert Martin

In order to simulate a power
failure here on our Windows 2000 MQSeries 5.3 server, I am yanking the
power cable from the rear of the machine. Upon doing so, when the
machine is restarted, I get the an AMQ8041 error as a result
while the Queue Manager is trying to restart after booting. There are
MQ client applications on the local machine where the Queue Manager
exists as well as on another remote networked machine. This AMQ8041
error says the following:

The queue manager cannot be restarted or deleted because processes
that were previously connected are still running.

Does this only apply to processes running locally or can it also
apply to remote processes over the network?

Some of the process instances mentioned that were running appeared to
be an executable called amqrmppa.exe. What is this exe used for?

Has anyone else run into this problem? What is the best solution? Is
there a way to get around this problem if it happens again without
human intervention?

MQSeries 5.3 for Windows NT thread safe?

2003-06-04 Thread Robert Martin
I have a question. Is MQSeries 5.3 thread safe now? In the past, you
couldn't use the same queue manager connection handle for across
multiple threads. Has this changed ever?

MQSC script capitalization problem

2003-03-25 Thread Robert Martin

Is there some way to prevent runmqsc from forcing the names of
the objects I specify in my scripts to all caps? For instance, the
scripts I have created to create a model queue, when run, always create
the queues name in all caps regardless of how I type it in the script.

So if I type the following in the script

def qmodel(uib_nopsist_tempdyn) replace

the name of the queue is UIB_NOPSIST_TEMPDYN

I am running MQ 5.3 on Windows 2000.

I just recently started investigating security in MQSeries myself. If
you have not already checked the manual WebSphere MQ

What do you mean by "Secure" ? You can use a combination of a Security

Hi all

Security exits is the only way to secure the channel in MQSeries5.2?.

If not, It will be great that you could tell me any other way to secure
the Server-Connection channel in MQ5.2

Thanks in advance.

Please disregard my original post, I did not

Are
you saying that the queue did not exist and returned a 2085 error on 5.1. And
when you upgraded to 5.2 you were able to put/get messages from the queue ?

If you
are talking about dynamic queues, then yes you can create a queue during
the MQOPEN call. The queue created can be made temporary OR dynamic.

I have
tested this feature on 5.0(CSD 07) & 5.2 and it works fine. So
this should be applicable to 5.1 too.

Can you
please elaborate on the problem. Are you using dynamic queue creation OR trying
to put to a local queue.

Regards,

Srivathsa

We upgraded our NT MQSeries
server from 5.1 to version 5.2 a few months ago. In the past, if you tried to
open a queue that did not exist, you would get an error. Now it appears that
the queue is created automatically. We are not sure if we want this type of
functionality or not, but I cannot seem to find some configuration parameter to
turn it off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

In Dallas, several of the Hursley folks said that the XP Client would be
available for download "when you get back from Dallas at Version 5.2".

I still don't see any mention of XP Client for 5.2 on the site, although
there is plenty of info on 5.3 for XP Server in the 4th quarter.

Can anyone please clarify? Should I just download the latest NT client,
5.2.1?
