Re: Soap versus MQseries

2004-01-05 Thread Roberto Sanchez
There are different concepts, SOAP is a protocol, MQSeries is a transport.

You can bind SOAP protocol to any transport (http, etc.) including
MQSeries.

Hi all,

we are currently investigating the introduction of SOAP in our company,
application integration purposes and delevering services over the internet.
This because developers find it easy to use and it communicates over HTTP.

At the moment we are using Websphere MQseries to establish that.
I'm faces with the challenge to define company policies on when to use SOAP
and when to use MQ.
So I can use a lot of information on the subject.
Does anyone have ideas or is willing to share information with me.

Best regards,

Re: mq xml batch program

2003-10-30 Thread Roberto Sanchez
You can use the XML Extender in DB2 like a batch XML Parser.

Read the flat file, insert in several tables/columns, according the DTD,
and then SELECT this whith the XML clause.

Good Luck.

which reads a flat file on the mainframe and then writes it out in xml to
mq. This msg will be put to a sun server where a Java app will process it.
We dont have mq integrater at our site.Any pointers or suggestions are

Rick,

Thanks, since posting I found some info in the Program Directory document
for v1.2 which indicates that all modules in library SCSQAUTH are reentrant
and can be placed in the LPA if desired. This may be the performance
improvement we're looking for.

If there are numerous I/O's to bring MQ modules in, then I would think they
would remain in storage. If not, then it's possible that your OS needs
some tuning, e.g. more memory.

I don't recall if there are any docs that lists optional modules that are
eligible for LPA placement.

Hi,

On MQSeries OS390 v1.2 we have an application that is using DB2 stored
procedures running within WLM and which does continuous (and numerous) I/O
to MQSeries load modules. Is it possible to put these MQSeries load
modules
into the LPA (Link Pack Area)? We are on version 1.2, but we would also be
interested in knowing whether this is possible on more recent versions
since
we will be upgrading soon.

New headers Version 2 in OS/390.

Get with message-Id and Correl-ID full functionality in OS/390.

QManager DB2 dependant.

All existing apps supous to run ok.

(QManager 5.2 accepts headers from previos versions).

May be is good to check versions & compatibility of DB2 and CICS/ESA or TS,
version of COBOL/COPYS, actual triggers, channel inventory.

We going on the same path at May.

Good Luck.

Re: VB, ActiveX and MQ Client connections

The mqax200.dll (Activex Component of MQ) has some trouble with MQClient
and Remote QManagers, the native API via .BAS modules and declares works
better, the only issue is to set the compilation value MQTYPE, in 1 or 2,
at make time of VB.

Add to your VB proyect de .BAS modules that comes whith the product, for me
is the best way. Working good in VB and VC++.

One of our developers is trying to create an ActiveX based client to
connect to an MQ server for bunch of our NT clients.

Unfortunately VB and ActiveX are the only technologies that I'm not capable
of using in an MQ world (just can't bring myself to do MS development,
shivers up the spine keep my hands from working properly. :-)

Could someone in this group whose familiar with the ActiveX APIs help me
with a few questions.

1. How does one connect an ActiveX based client to multiple MQ servers,
not concurrently, but they need to be able to connect to different ones
depending on how they are activated.

2. What kinds of issues do we need to be on the lookout for while using
the ActiveX client?

3. Is there any better documentation than the html pages for MQSeries for
Windows NT Using the Component Object Model Interface?

Thank you very much for any help you're able to offer.

Without some value-added functonality, MQSeries will lose.
Connect Direct was designed as a file transfer system. MQSeries was
designed as an e-mail system. If you want head-to-head, look at

I'm aware of the unfortunate misconception of MQ as a glorified and costly

Connect Direct is seen as a viable alternative when it's just a file
transfer role that's being considered. My question was then as a
head-to-head file transfer solution, what's the knock-out punch for MQ vs.

Hello

I have downloaded MQClient for Linux from the web, and now I want to FTP it
over to my Linux box, but I keep getting "connection refused" (no matter
which side I try the FTP from) -- I can ping from
both machines but it seems port 21 is somehow disabled on the Linux box.

Does anybody know what needs to be set in the Linux machine to enable FTP?

I checked the /etc/services file and see port 21 is listed.

Thanks, all
