Peter,This can vary from system to system, but here are a few clues ...First of all, we should only use ports above 1024. Then, as Tim told you,you can look at the official list of reserved port, and know which ones arereserved for your particular system. You can also issue 'netstat -a | grep LISTEN'. This will display all theports that have active listeners. These certainly are not available for youto use.For safety, if I am not using 1414, I start my listeners on port 14140 andabove; these tend to be safe numbers on most systems I have worked on.Regards,Dave Awerbuch-Original Message-From: Potkay, Peter M (PLC, IT) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2004 5:14 PMTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: Pick a port, any port.If one does not want to

David:
Where would I find the client is connecting to the right listener for the connected QM?
I thought of that before, but in the program I could not see any reference to listener.

Thanks,

TEST_CH is defined as a SVRCONN channel at the default QM at the server, but is the client connecting the listener for that QM or another one?

Re: Cant get amqscnxc sample program working

2004-02-06 Thread TC

Hi All:
I have posted a similar question about amqscnxc program not working
for me either.
Here comes my question again..Let me tried to explain as clear as I can...

===
I am using the AMQSCNXCCsample program which
demonstrates a client connection usingMQCONNX.

I goterror at run timewith reason code 2059 (MQRC_Q_MGR_NOT_AVAILABLE).
Followings are snapshots of eventlog from both client and server machine when mqRC 2059 returned from thetest sample program.

My client machinehas theclient connection channel, namely "TEST_CH" defined under the default queue manager. There is no MQSERVER environment variable defined on the client machine.
Server machinehas the server connection channel"TEST_CH"defined under the default local queue manager which the client is connecting to.From both system event log, I can tell at least the connection between 2 system is made successfully but MQ has written the followingsin eventlog on each system.
Eventlog on Client machine.Description:Channel not defined remotely. There is no definition of channel'TEST_CH' at the remote location.
Add an appropriate definition to the remote hosts list of defined channels and retry the operation. Eventlog on remote Server machine...Description:Channel 'TEST_CH' not found.
The requested operation failed because the program could not find a definition of channel 'TEST_CH'.
Check that the name is specified correctly and the channel definition is available. =

I did go out and look at the doc and I don't really understand it. Theprevious versions said Must not be less than MQCD_VERSION_6.So the 5.2 client should have been written under a different set of rulesand would have to accept the 6. I frankly have a hard time believing thatIBM intended to make any applications using MQCONNX obsolete every timethey released a new version of the MQCD and published a new client and doc.I don't know why it is phrased that way. In fact it implies that it must beexactly the current level. Anything lower breaks this rule in the doc, anything higher and you are making up your own versions ahead of IBM (thatcan't be wise) and I would expect the Client to through a 2277.May be someone at IBM can clarify this documentation.Rick|-+---| | "David

Re: MQSeries Client Security

2002-07-12 Thread Malone . TC

I wrote my own ... it is currently written in OS/390 Assembler. However, I
think that I also took a stab at writing it in 'C'. You could have a copy
to look at/use but be warned, it is cheap (free), and you get what you
pay for. ;-)
