Re: How many concurrent client channel connections do you run to a si ngle queue manger?

Matt,
In my experience this was limited by memory. Each connection takes a
certain amount and your basic limit was the box memory.

Subject: How many concurrent client channel connections do you run to a
si ngle queue manger?

We have an application where 100 applications each running on their own
W2K
server have a client connection to the same single queue manager and all
100
applications are in a get-wait state on the same queue. The queue
manager is
hosted on W2K and is currently 5.2 we have a requirement to increase the
number of applications connected to that queue from 100 to 1000. MQ
will be
upgraded to 5.3 for this change.

I am concerned as to what the useable connection limit may be, before
the
queue manager become unstable or performance degrades significantly. I
am
aware of the various soft limits that need to be adjusted (max handles,
max
channels, max active channels etc etc). What I am interested from the
list is
some real world examples of large numbers of mq clients connected to the
same
queue manager, and if applicable, the same queue.

I have read the relevant Performance Evaluation support pacs on this
issue.

So my question is, what is the highest number of concurrent client
channel
connections that you run to a single queue manger?

Thanks,
Matt
