I hope you meant: hate Omegamon...

anyway my guess is your wish (if hate is what you meant...) will be
granted...

either Omegamon will be renamed to Tivoli MQ Adapter or is likely to get
lost in the IBM cloud forever...
Candle development staff will be scattered over IBM's labs
Candle services staff will be scattered over IBM global services
Candles product line will be ripped apart and absorbed by IBM product

I am not sure but thought the MQ related part of Candle was just a tip of
the swallowed chunk of ice.

just my 2 cents...

Have to agree on all accounts, I was throught the Brit invasion, The Japan
invasion, the Russion invasion and now the India Out-vasion.
Business management doesn't always do the smartest thingjust whatever
puts a buck in there pocket and because THEY ARE IN CHARGE. Then they cry
boo hoo hoo when it doesn't work out and expect the government to bail them
out.
I kind of like the BIG BLUE comercial running right now with the magical
"Cost Cutting" sword. And the dumb SOB cannot pull it out of the rock!! What
does it mean he asks. To which IBM (aka his shrink) replies "There are no
more costs to cut!!! You now have to be productive"
In a fair and even world there is certainly enough labor to go around.
Ususlly for everybody. Hopefully we will get back to those times now that
the media has finally woke up. IBM isn't the only one toting this
message

Well, I'm gonna chip in my $0.02 (and then hopefully I'll shut up).

I can safely speak from both sides of the fence... I came over (well,
actually I was bought over) to the US in late 1990 from the UK, to work on
an IBM project for the State Of California. I was interviewed and recruited
in England and landed in Sacramento with an H-1 visa in hand.
The project was an OS/2-based system. There was a bunch of other Brits also
recruited and we were subcontracted to IBM though an agency.
I later found out we we're being paid significantly less that the "home
grown talent". No surprises there.
I am now a fully fledged permanent resident, only a few steps away from US
citizenship.
Over the recent few years I have had both the good fortune (in most cases)
and bad fortune (in a few, rare, cases) to work with others who are now in
the situation I was in. Whilst the H-1/H-1B workers are, by and large,
intelligent and hard working, almost without exception they are also (and
most importantly) - CHEAP.
If any executive says anything else (s)he is only telling a small part of
the story.
The NUMBER ONE reason that high tech execs want to maintain a high visa
limit is to have available a larger pool of CHEAP labour.
In my opinion, the reduction in the limit of visas will not limit the trend
of high tech projects to move "off-shore", but it may make it somewhat less
cost-effective and may somewhat slow things down.
But, let's face it, businesses exist to MAKE MONEY. They do this by
maximising the return on investments. As long as GOOD off-shore workers are
available at a reasonable rate of pay, local talent will barely get a
look-see.
Anyway... enough rambling.

Please do not adjust your set... normal transmissions will be resumed
shortly.
Regards,

Antony Boggis.

"But Patrick Duffy, Human Resources Attorney for Intel Corporation, said
finding the best-educated engineering talent from around the world was
critical to his company's future."

Maybe Intel should do a better job at educating Americans!!! Send their
workers to school at the same time they do their normal jobs! Heck, hire
me, send me back to school, and I will be twice as dedicated, determined,
creative, and loyal knowing a company is willing to educate me in an area
needed to keep the company ahead of the market! I already have most of
those talents, just don't have the engineering that Intel probably is
looking for yet!

Americans worked on average 1,825 hours in 2002, between 280 and 480 more than people in Norway, France and Belgium. But, they owe this primarily to long weeks and few holidays.
