Re: PCF Commands on OS/390
Hi, You can inquire channel status or another MQ command send a message to the OS/390 queue called SYSTEM.COMMAND.INPUT. In this message you must write the command (like Display chstatus(channel.Name)) and specify a reply queue and in this local queue of the WNT you receive a group of message than describe the response. You can analyse them. The command server in OS/390 must be started I hope this help Kind Regards -- Diese E-Mail enthält vertrauliche und/oder rechtlich geschützte Informationen. Re: PCF Commands on OS/390
WHAT you can do. as I did this You can write a message to the (hope I get this right, it's been a while) SYSTEM.COMMAND.INPUT QUEUE. You specify the message as a MQMT-REQUEST and MQMD-FORMAT-STRING and specify a reply to queue and reply-to-queue-mgr. What is contained in the message body is one of the commands from the MQSC Command Ref csqzaj06 manual. What will appear on your reply-to-queue is the Queue managers answer to your request. It is a multi message answer so you have to try one and parse the messages looking for your answer string. It is tedious but it can be done. Another idea is that NASTEL, remember NASTEL, has, and I believe may sell, a PCF Command Processor for the MF. It sits on a queue and turns the PCF commands into the command I described above and gives you back and answer, I believe as you would expect from a PCF command. Nifty little processor. bobbee From: "Long, Matthew Jr. (Inland)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: MQSeries List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: PCF Commands on OS/390 Date: Tue, 18 Feb 2003 21:40:03 -0500 1. Matt, when a channel stops, an event message is written. You can set up a trigger to fire on a message going to the channel event queue, then do whatever you deem appropriate. -Original Message-From: Long, Matthew Jr. (Inland) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2003 9:40 PMTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: Re: PCF Commands on OS/390 1. The channel events queue receives notification when the channel has failed. BMC's MAINVIEW AutoOPERATOR for MQ/Series has a solution that will maintain your channels on OS/390. -Original Message-From: MQSeries List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Long, Matthew Jr. (Inland)Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2003 6:40 PMTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: Re: PCF Commands on OS/390 2. If you didn't want to spend any money on off-the-shelf tools, you could try Support Pac MA18 if you know or don't mind learning some Rexx. I've used it in the past to good effect for channel monitoring and restarting, as well as detecting Xmitq build up...etc. CheersGreg "Long, Matthew Jr. (Inland)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>@AKH-Wien.AC.AT> on 19/02/2003 13:40:03 Please respond to MQSeries List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by:MQSeries List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] cc: Subject:Re: PCF Commands on OS/390 1.
