Re: Some questions about the MQ versions

2004-09-22 Thread Justin Fries

Vaughan,

        As
others have pointed out, you can find most of the information you need
at the WebSphere MQ support summary page and the IBM Software Support Lifecycle
page, listed below.  However, be aware the lifecycle page is only
for software licensed under IBM IPLA terms.  Lots of host systems
software, including WebSphere MQ, is licensed under the IBM Customer Agreement
(ICA) and won't be found there.

        http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/mqfamily/support/summary/
        http://www-306.ibm.com/software/info/supportlifecycle/

        To
track ICA licensed software you need to follow announcement letters.  Go
to http://www.ibm.com/common/ssi/OIX.wss, click on the "Go" button
next to 'Announcement Letters', then chose the 'Search Announcements' menu
item on the left.  Although you can search on terms like "MQ"
I find that searching by product number usually gives the best results.
 The current numbers are:

        5655-F10
 WebSphere MQ 5.x for z/OS
        5724-B41
 WebSphere MQ 5.3 for Multiplatforms
        5724-A38
MQSeries 5.1 for HP OpenVMS Alpha
        5724-A39
 MQSeries 5.1 for HP NSK
        5765-E38
MQSeries 5.1 for HP Tru64 UNIX
        5686-A06
 MQSeries 2.1 for VSE/ESA

        The
current releases of WebSphere MQ on z/OS are 5.3.1 and 5.3.0 (see announcement
letter 202-075).  Version 5.3.0 will be withdrawn from service on
October 31, 2005 according to announcement letter 904-151, with v5.3.1
as the stated replacement.

        Best
regards,

        Justin T. Fries

Some questions about the
MQ versions

Good Afternoon.
I've been looking for MQ announcement letters on the IBM website, but can't
seem to get the answers I'm looking for.

I'd be much obliged if you could help with the answers to the following
questions:

1. Is 5.3 the latest version of MQ?
2. If not, what is?
3. Has End of Currency been announced for the latest version?
4. If so, when?
5. What is the latest supported version of MQ?
6. When does this end?

TIA

Vaughan

Vaughn,

http://www-306.ibm.com/software/info/supportlifecycle/list/w.html

Scroll 75% down the page for MQ products. First date column is GA date, last column
(where present) is end of service date. for CSDs, look here:

Re: Some questions about the MQ versions

2004-09-22 Thread Vaughan Phillips
Thanks to Frank and to Lee Wheaton for their responses.

I now have the answers I need.

BTW as soon as I hit the Send button I realised that I'd omitted the platform, which
for completeness' sake is zSeries.

Thanks again,

Vaughan

Hello Vaughan,

The answers to these questions depend on the platform(s) you are interested
in. I'll try and supply some partial answers, based on the broadest
platform category:

>>>1. Is 5.3 the latest version of MQ?

Yes.

>>>2. If not, what is?

The latest version for any given platform can be found at
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/integration/websphere/mqplatforms/

>>>3. Has End of Currency been announced for the latest version?

No.

>>>4. If so, when?

No date yet available. To see the announced end-of-currency dates go to
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/info/supportlifecycle/list/w.html

>>>5. What is the latest supported version of MQ?

The latest version for any given platform can be found at
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/integration/websphere/mqplatforms/

>>>6. When does this end?

No date yet available.
