That's a very common case.

And the resolution is just what I commonly use(d) (and proposed).

Fine, ood news.

Yes, most of that stuff might warrant some polishing up. The question is
whether it's warranted.

That's good to hear/read - if and when I'll find the spare time to do so, I
think I should really rework all those long sleeping projects...

Thank you for your dedicated support!

Hello Sieghard.

> Could you give aa hint as to what was the cause of the problem?

It was about some properties that was no more used.

To solve it , only delete the properties in the theform.mfm code.
Then save the code and "show as form".

Then set the problematic properties with the object inspector with the new
properties.

There is also a demo using chartrecorder component.
It was fixed too.

Note that those demos are more than 9 years old and a update was needed.

For your old project using chartrecorder, it should be easy to update it to
last msegui commits.

Could you give aa hint as to what was the cause of the problem?
I have a (now long sleeping) project usind a chart component
(chartrecorder) too, and as there's a chance I might have to revive that,
I would be interested in the background functions. Anyway, the "options"
field(s) of several components were often the objects of changes, and it
was not rarely neccessary to even delete one to get a component to load.
As Martin was so helpful introducing new features when users requested
them, he was prone to introduce enormous amounts of complexity, and often
this was "hidden" in additional option values that modified some aspect of
a component's behaviour, which might at times have an adverse effect on
other such aspects. So you might encounter "interesting interferences",
I'm afraid...

Hum, indeed, I just test it.

But in my applications using TChart it works ok, no problems also to edit them.

I dont know when Martin did those demos but they seem very old (or maybe in
plan to add) .
There are properties for TGrid that does not exist in last release of Martin
4.6.

The top would be that somebody re-create the same demo with the component using
last release.

Hello Graeme.

I did use the infos from msehelp.txt from earlier post.

I did commit the change in:
https://wiki.freepascal.org/Reference:_MSEgui#TLayouter

But I am not pro at all of wiki format so it look very raw.
But, imho, more understandable that before commit.

Wow, I forgot what rubbish syntax MediaWiki uses. No matter what I tried,
I couldn't get the formatting to work.

For example, the first section mentioned that there are 5 steps, so I tried
to use a numbered list, but no matter what, the numbers of each point kept
resetting and started at 1 every time. So eventually I gave up, formatted
the text as plain text in an external editor, and then wrapped the content
in a PRE tag so MediaWiki doesn't touch it.

The formatting is still not perfect, but Stage 1 looks better than it did
before.

Useless wiki formatting!

I find this document msehelp.txt (in attachment):

There is a TLayouter section.
It seems that the wiki used that document.

So, I think I will use this one to fix the wiki.

OK?

Hello Graeme.

I have to confess that I dont use the TLayouter widget.
In ideU there is no more TLayouter anymore because I did not catch how it
works and it was easier for me to align things by code.

Ok, I will see if there is some demo and try to catch how it works.

If you click on edit, the syntax is slightly less garbled, but there are
some sections that are still pretty hard to understand (especially for
a non-MSEgui user like me).

It looks like it was something copied from another wiki or something
and the person didn't bother property formatting it to the syntax used
by the Lazarus wiki.
