RE: [mssms] Question about supercedence

2014-06-16 Thread Matt Wilkinson
When you say know about do you mean sccm will run a scan using the detection
rule if it installed the application? It's just strange that it hasn't
supercededed on a few PC's. But within appdiscovery.log it's not even scanning
for the presence of the application. Even though the console states it
installed by the user on that PC.

RE: [mssms] Solarwinds Patch Management

2014-06-16 Thread Fusco, Brendan
I wonder if a community effort to create and maintain SCUP catalogs could be
tried. Most organizations don't have the in-house resources to write their own
SCUP catalogs for all of the products that need frequent patching, but if
various organizations could each contribute a catalog for one product, maybe it
could work.

$10 client/year would pay for 1.5 FTE at my place. I would rather pay someone

don't think patching is worth more than $2 client/year. More than that and the

If I remember correctly the native USMT action has to run from within the full
OS.

To do an offline USMT capture requires a script.

That's what we do.

I wonder if a community effort to create and maintain SCUP catalogs could be
tried. Most organizations don't have the in-house resources to write their
own SCUP catalogs for all of the products that need frequent patching, but
if various organizations could each contribute a catalog for one product,
maybe it could work.

$10 client/year would pay for 1.5 FTE at my place. I would rather pay
someone to write the patches in house and use the leftover hours to do other
work. I don't think patching is worth more than $2 client/year. More than
that and the numbers don't add up.

Yes, absolutely. There is no reason for it to be full because your report
server has no data it other than the actual reports. After you do this, you'll

If I remember correctly the native USMT action has to run from within the full
OS.

To do an offline USMT capture requires a script.

That's what we do.

USMT will need to run in the full windows OS, so the TS should be starting
while booted into Windows, USMT will run then restart the machine into WinPE
for the OS reinstall.

Yes, absolutely. There is no reason for it to be full because your report
server has no data it other than the actual reports. After you do this,
you’ll be able to shrink the log file in the console also.

My ReportServer_Log.ldf file is about 50 GB in size and consuming all disk
space on the drive. I'm not very skilled in SQL and need to the best way to
handle this. Should I modify the Recovery Model to 'Simple'? Is shrinking the
.ldf file the best way to approach/manage this? Looking for some input from
someone more knowledgeable in this arena.

RE: [mssms] RE: USMT in OSD 2012 task sequence

2014-06-16 Thread Taxter, Latisha
Yes, I do.. its resolved..
I guess like someone said this morning it ran and I didn’t notice. I did not
think that usmt would grab files I created on the root of C if I hadn’t
configured it and was using the default settings. I thought it would only grab
user profiles, so looking at it, I thought it had not run.

Thanks for all your guys help..

Yes, I do have allow users to run independenttly of assignments, so I could see
it in software center, but it has not reimaged on its own. I am still logged
into it.

How about “Notification Settings” for the deployment is “Allow users to run the
program independently of assignments” checked? Maybe since it’s required it
actually reimaged on its own when you weren’t looking. Even though the report
doesn’t reflect that.

i'd be very careful about deploying any required OSD task sequences.. we
migrate from Windows 7 to Windows 7/8 using offline mode in WinPE so no need to
start the task sequence in windows at all, i.e. you can start via PXE or
usb/standalone media, far safer than deploying some task sequences to a whole
estate of computers in Windows...
back to your problem, is the computer in the collection you deployed to ?

Any ideas on why it’s not showing up?
