Re: [mssms] CM 1511 auto-upgrading clients

2016-11-04 Thread the codepoets
Yes. Getting to 1511 is step one of getting to 1606 for us. Not really
pertinent to this ask, though.

And no, along with the other auto-update tasks I checked, it is not
published to WSUS either. We have no "auto" client installs leveraged
anywhere.

Looks like it was not as widespread as it first looked. Unfortunately, we
install the SCCM client on our hosts in a non-standard way. And we seem to
have been hit with the "stuck repair scheduled task" issue more than I've
seen most people. I'm pretty sure what's going on is that our MP (which is
also our FSP) has the updated client files. In the logs I can see the
clients on the affected systems trying to install using their original
install strings and failing (a separate issue that I will be fixing). It
looks like they are eventually falling back to the MP for install files,
which is installing the newer client?

I don't know if that is exactly what's happening, or the exact process
that's happening, but it looks like it for now. Thanks for the pointers
Daniel. I was looking at ccmsetup logs when I saw your email. But the
msiinstaller tip showed me that these clients were trying to repair their
clients prior to the upgrade.

Between yesterday and today, there were only 10 other upgrades, as opposed
to the almost 200 I saw yesterday. So it seems to have evened itself out.

Thanks for the responses guys.

You do realise 1511 is only supported until Dec 8th right?

So, I just recently finished our upgrade to 1511 (infrastructure only) in both
our PROD and DEV environments. We had no plans to upgrade the clients until a
later date.

But now I am seeing that clients (servers and desktops) are being upgraded
automatically. I have already checked the Client Upgrade option in the
Hierarchy Settings, and both the Production and Pre-Production checkboxes are
clear.

We do not have any deployments (that I can at least see) that would be pushing
this out.

Anyone have any other clue as to why my clients are auto-upgrading themselves
when they definitely should not be?

Thanks,
Erik

upgrade of the new client is published into WSUS.

What about ccmsetup.log on the client? Any pointers to where the install
initiates from? What about the msiinstaller log in the Application event logs?
Also check ccm.log on your site server to check for any client push activity.
