RE: I discovered a failure on MSX-DOS!!
VDP addresse are fxed too for TurboR. It is in the official ASCII documentation. I only have heard of nonstandard vdp addresses with brazilian msx2 updates for MSX1? So for 99.99% of msx'es in use (including emulators!) the vdp addresses are fixed? -Original Message- From: Patriek Lesparre [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 25 May 2001 00:45 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: I discovered a failure on MSX-DOS!! ...and direct access to VDP ports is even faster. 8-) But it's nonstandard... ...and direct access to VDP ports is even faster. 8-) But it's nonstandard... Didn't MSX2+ standardize the VDP port direct access? It was on Turbo-R. But for MSX2 and 2+ it IS indeed standard. Just read main ROM adrresses 5 and 6 to know which ports are used to VDP access (although I had never seen any MSX using other than #98 onwards). *** XX MSX USERS MEETING IN BARCELONA: DECEMBER 8th 2001 *** -- Konami Man - AKA Nestor Soriano (^^)v http://www.konamiman.com- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ICQ#: 18281450 Celebrating the imprudences must be unfailingly consequent with it said, not for the fact in itself, but for some that another onomatopoeia to the use -- -- For info, see http://www.stack.nl/~wynke/MSX/listinfo.html

If you make a vi compatible editor you're the best and most handsome MSX coder for sure! ;-) Please, an Uzix vi. =) But I would have to first convert NestorMan to UZIX... (.) Re: Uzix installation on Novaxis SCSI
Hi, We (Manuel Bilderbeek Eric Boon) are trying to install Uzix on a ZIP disk using the Novaxis SCSI interface. partition selection command: 'echo hello' -- We don't need a command to select the partition. Entering nothing gave an error :-/ Thanks for this. I'll fix the installation program... But, when the installation program started to make directories and wanted to install all the programs on them, we got errors like this: cd /etc failure exit When something goes wrong during installation an error message is displayed on screen. Can you tell me what error message was displayed? It can help us a lot to discover what's happening. The, back in the installation script, A: on partition 1 was selected as boot partition (obviously), UZLO installed and ran ok, but reported 'partition is not UZIX' (or similar). I'll check UZLO installer... I think there is an error there... 2nd try: Looked pretty much the same but UZLO hangs after showing 'Loading uzix' Advanced settings were let alone: none of the option were selected. Try selecting the following options: - Force stopdrive workaround - Disable stopdrive countdown fsck did not reveal any failures though ! ?? It's not an error on filesystem. It's an error on the kernel. The kernel didn't boot yet. We guess that UZIX doesn't handle any Novaxis' partitioning scheme well enough... As I said, we need more 'fine tunning' to get UZIX running on a Novaxis. Remember: I don't have a Novaxis (neither my friends). If you both, boys, have patience, we will succeed in this challenge. Re: NestorMan 1.11 and TexTor 1.0 available!
Nestor, Please, an Uzix vi. =) But I would have to first convert NestorMan to UZIX... (.) BTW, Adriano, when will you release UZIX programmers manual? Otherwise, how do you expect that anyone will be able to develop applications for UZIX? 8-) I will, I will. Just give some time... You know that documentation is the worst part in a project... As an workaround, you can do the following: - write an ANSI C program for Linux. Have in mind you're using a VT52 terminal when playing with ESC codes. Try to fit the program below 32k. Don't declare too big local vars (declare them as static). Doing this your program can be compiled for UZIX with a chance of 99,99%. Send it to me and I'll do it. - if you want to write a network application for UZIX (irc client, wget clone, offline mail reader, etc), contact me. I wrote a wrapper for Linux/SunOS for UZIX TCP/IP stack. Now you can write your application using UZIX TCP/IP calls, compile and test it under Linux/SunOS. Send it to me and I'll compile it for UZIX. turboR DRAM mode DOS2
Hi all, me again with another DOS2 problem. On turboR an extra 64kB memory is used by the system. I guess this is the DRAM mode memory. Now I have these questions: 1. Do the DOS2 system segments reside before or after the DRAM memory? 2. Is there any way to free this 64kB? I have tried switching to R800 ROM or Z80 mode and rebooting DOS2 (BASIC then CALL SYSTEM), but that does not work. Thanks, Patriek -- For info, see http://www.stack.nl/~wynke/MSX/listinfo.html
