Is that still true now that a release can consist of several discs?
Wouldn't it be better to use the catalog number
that goes for the whole release instead?

Thanks. So many people think it should be changed, and some people act
as if it was changed. But will it change?

[mb-style] Catalog numbers for releases with multiple media

2012-03-07 Thread Per Starbäck
http://musicbrainz.org/doc/Release/Catalog_Number says that

# 4. Some box sets will have a separate cat number for each disc, and
then an overall number that appears
# on the outer packaging. It is recommended that the catalog number to
be entered on MBz matches each
# individual disc. The number for the overall package can be noted in
the release annotation if desired.

Is that still true now that a release can consist of several discs?

that goes for the whole release instead?

If that is so, and is changed, would it be good to store catalog
numbers for individual discs somewhere too?
(Same goes for barcodes.)
