 Hello list

I use the built-in smtp to send mails. It just works fine if I enter the
 correct
password. If I enter a wrong one, the whole program freezes. My config:

make sure your mutt binary was compiled with debugging (mutt -v |grep
 DEBUG)

then run mutt -d 3 and trigger the freeze. then look at
~/.muttdebug0. it may provide some clues.

Well, I can't find an error myself. Here is the ~/.muttdebug0 I could produce.

You can see that it freezes for about five minutes.

 Do you need more information?

Elias,

Judging from the logfile, I am guessing that Mutt is not actually
frozen, but waiting for you to fix the authentication problem before
hitting 'y' (send) again. You can verify this by pressing 'e' to edit
the message again.

Double check your $smtp_pass and username, I think it may be incorrect
for that account, as the server is saying it can't authenticate you.

Hmm, I don't know. I can not press any button at all. Mutt does not react. I
can't press ^D or ^C either.

I enter the password interactively. I don't think that the username or password
are incorrect, because if I enter the password correct, everything works fine.
The problem only happens if I enter the password incorrectly.

Besides vim, you can use a program called 'par'. It is brilliant.
I set $display_filter to use it so that I get the neat line wrap
for reading as well. I also have several vi macros that use it for
reflowing text in different styles. (Even if I did use vim, par is more
flexible.)
