I needed the *app password* to get mine working.

I did not need 'export'.

 set spoolfile =  "imaps://imap.aol.com:993/INBOX"
 set folder = "imaps://imap.aol.com:993"

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
• Server - smtp.aol.com
• Port - 465
• Requires SSL - Yes
• Requires authentication - Yes

Your login info

If you're using an older email app, *generate an app password* and use 
that for your account password.

• Email address - Your full email address (n...@domain.com)
• Password - Your account's password
• Requires authentication - Yes
