[MLO] MLO 5 - New Text Tag property - best practise

2018-08-08 Thread JohnP
I've upgraded to the new Windows MLO 5 and saw the new Text Tag property.

What are your tops tips, ideas and best practice for using the new Text
Tags alongside Contexts, Flags, etc?

How do you use them if you also use MLO on a mobile device (iPhone, iPad)?

Thanks in advance.

[MLO] Cloud sync - branch

2018-06-19 Thread JohnP
I have two Window user profiles on my laptop - work and home.

I want to sync all my MLO to cloud for my home Windows user profile. This
is also used on mobile devices.
I want to sync only my work branch for my work Windows user profile. Then
my work branch profile does not see other other 'noise'.

Is it possible to sync to Cloud a full MLO file as well as a branch? or is
there a smarter way of doing this without Zooming?

Thanks

John

[MLO] Re: What I really LIKE about MyLifeOrganized!

2012-08-10 Thread JohnP
I've been a user for over 5 years and I love

- dumping my mind into the Outline View, especially using Rapid Task Entry
with switches
- very flexible Next Action views e.g. due today, start next few days, goals
- ability to have a list of all my projects to help with weekly review
- dropping Outlook email as a task - either by dragging or emailing in
- Cloud Sync between devices
- iPad app so I can review/add whilst on the London Underground

Keep up the excellent work !!

[MLO] filtering today but before now

2012-01-24 Thread JohnP
How to I filter out tasks that are not due until later in the day
without setting a start time?

e.g.It 9am and I want a coffee at 10am. I set a due time to 10am
for make coffee. I wan't this task to be hidden until 10am.

In the advanced filters I can only see a value today and not now.
now = current date+time

[MLO] PC desktop - sorting by task name - can it be done

2011-11-03 Thread JohnP
I may of missed the trick, but other than manual sort, is there a way
to sort a list alphabetically?

I run a lot of projects for different stakeholders and it would be
good to sort this way.

Thanks,

[MLO] inconsistant time format

2011-10-14 Thread JohnP
On Windows desktop some of my tasks have Due time 16:35 and some
04:35PM. I sync between two machines, both UK Windows, both in
London, UK.

Anyone else seen this?

How can I force 24HR format?

Thanks,

[MLO] Re: Date format change not visible

2011-08-17 Thread JohnP
I have a similar problem with date format.

My PC Windows is set to UK English. The settings in MLO say d/M/.

Some tasks are in American format (8/17/2011 2:40 PM) and some are
correct 24hour format dd/mm/ hh;mm

I can't see any logic.

How can I fix this?

[MLO] How do you use MLO and email folders to GTD?

2011-06-25 Thread JohnP
How do you use MLO and email folders to GTD?

My email folder structure is
- Inbox
- @Action
- @WaitingFor
- Someday
- Archive
- Project1 Reference
- Project2 Reference

When using my email I keep my Inbox empty by dragging emails to the
appropriate female older.

I also use MLO to manage my tasks using standard GTD contexts with
folder structure according to areas of focus then projects, etc.

The problem I have is that sometimes I work from MLO, and refer to
email project folders. Sometimes I work from my email @Action folder
and not always cross check with MLO.

I don't want to use Outlook sync as I often use webmail or
Thunderbird. But I don't mind dragging from email to MLO.

What is the best way of operating in this way. Or perhaps there is a
better way to keep both in sync whilst keeping on top of everything.

[MLO] What's your tip in using Stars or Flags?

2011-01-05 Thread JohnP
I was wondering how others use flags or stars, or a combination of
both in their day-to-day GTD.

What is best practise or are there any innovative ideas.

I tend to hide unwanted Next Actions by setting a Start Date or using
Contexts. Sometimes I feel I want to focus tighter.

Views welcome.

[MLO] Feature Request: Rapid Task Entry by email to Cloud

2010-09-20 Thread JohnP
I often use the Rapid Task Entry on MLO and love the parsing syntax.
With MLO in the cloud, a great new feature would to allow a user to
email in tasks. I use this with Sales Force and it's great.

1) subscribers would enable this option online and be given a secret
email address linked to their online account. The email address can be
reset if required.

There would then be options to email in new tasks

2a) if their secret cloud email receives an email then the subject
line becomes the task name and the content the notes. This is good for
when emailing or replying to a human, just BCC your MLO secret email

2b) if you suffix the subject with a parsing instructions, then it
would act like Rapid Task Entry. This is good if you want to just
forward an email to MLO or create a single task. Great for non-MLO
email devices.
e.g. FW: What shall we do about the new proposal [...@office in 4d ]

2c) Allow multiple tasks like Rapid Task Entry. The subject line could
either be blank or a special keyword. The body of the email would
contain single line task entries.

Benefits:
- allows task entry from a machine/device where you are reading emails
but don't have MLO installed
- allows you to BCC when doing emails rather than copy email, switch
to MLO, create task, paste notes
- could be used for manager/secretary work to allow secretary to add
in new tasks

Anyone else find this a useful and time saving idea?

[MLO] Can use MLO cloud to manage my tasks

[MLO] Re: Only one featured really needed

2009-08-19 Thread JohnP

I love the feature-rich windows version and I am looking forward to
running it on my iTouch with over the air/wireless sync to my PC.

I agree with most posts that MLO should not be turned into a web-only
to-do. However, I would like the ability to be able to
1) log into my MLO cloud via a browser to be able to quickly add/
complete tasks if I am not near my PC (away or with my MAC)
2) email in a list of tasks.

I sometimes use Toodledo which allows me to foward emails to an email
aliase and then see it on my task list. Need to play further on then
syncing with MLO via Outlook. Very messy I know!!

I am concidering buying a MAC laptop and MLO is a key reason for not
stepping down that route.

[MLO] MLO with iPhone -will Toodledo work?

2008-12-30 Thread JohnP

I read this interesting post about syncing Outlook tasks with iPhone
using Toodledo. Has anyone tried using this and then syncing Outlook
and MLO? Thus iPhone to MLO sync for free. This might be a good work
around until there is an MLO app.

http://danielcurran.com/freeware/how-to-sync-outlook-tasks-with-your-iphone-for-free/

If I get some free time I might try this myself.
