Please. I use MLO on my desktop, android phone and my tablet. It would be
nice not to have to manually transfer my views and workspaces every time.
More people will come to MLO when they realize that they won't have to do a
manual set up each time they install it. Plus, occasionally I have to
change a view or add a workspace. I don't particularly enjoy having to
manually update them on each device either.

[MLO] Re: Syncing Views and Workspaces between platforms

2017-08-01 Thread James Hundley
Copy the mlo file from one of Windows machines to the other first after
creating all the views you want... you can also export and import views

If you want the files to truly synch store them in drop box folder on each pc

[MLO] Re: Syncing Views and Workspaces between platforms

2017-08-01 Thread Alyona (MLO Support)
There is no possibility to sync view in MLO now, no matter which platform
and version is used. We do not plan to add automated views sync via cloud
in the nearest future. However, we are considering alternatives that would
allow to easily update views on all devices.

In the meanwhile, to transfer views between PCs, you need to export the
view from the file on one PC (Right-click the view and select Export
view(s)... from the menu. Enter a name for the file), open the required
data file on the second PC and import (File->Import) the saved view to it.
Likewise, to transfer a custom view from desktop to Android, you need to
export your view on desktop, transfer the exported file to Android device
and import into MLO app from there.

I just subscribed to the cloud sync and my expectation was that it would
sync my views as well. Quite frustrating to find out that it doesn't.

I can understand why it may not sync them to a different platform (like
Android), but at the very least if I am syncing two Windows devices
(Desktop to laptop) it should do that correctly and should pull in my
Custom views.
If anyone has a way to do that, I'd be pleased to hear as I haven't figured
out how to do it.

Thanks.

[MLO] Re: Syncing Views and Workspaces between platforms

2017-03-26 Thread Lasse Pedersen
I support the feature request of getting sync - since I also tinker a lot
with views. And I believe all ambitious MLO users do for many months when
they start using it.

But what I do to alleviate it is to export the views to a subfolder to my
MLO folder on Windows. (The entire MLO folder is on Gdrive). I also make a
specific folder for views on my Android. (In my case I chose a subfolder to
the download folder).
Then I use a sync app to create a sync connection between the two folders.
(In my case Autosync Google Drive which has served me well for years for
many
purposes.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ttxapps.drivesync=en
).

This way, as soon as I change on Windows I can at least quickly get it to
my Android as well.
This of course does not help me in the cases where I tinker with views on
my Android first. But still better than manual transfer / e-mailing to my
phone.

Re: [MLO] Re: Syncing Views and Workspaces between platforms

2017-03-25 Thread Dwight Arthur
I agree with Andrey that some views don't transfer well. For example I
have a hierarchical view for projects that works great on Windows but such
on Android because the tasks get indented too far to remain legible

But that's no reason to avoid synch. I just need to make two views,
project-w and project-a and remember to use the appropriate view on each
platform

Sure, some will, but most people want to see the same thing on all their
versions. I would like to.

I have MLO currently on my desktop, my Android phone and a tablet but when
I make a change to a workspace or view, I have to manually make that change
to all instances of MLO. That's the dark ages in technology. MLO needs to
focus on being consistent across all platforms. If the user doesn't want
MLO to do this then simply offer the user the option of not syncing views
and workspaces.

Hi all!

landed on this forum over and over again.

I just need to ventilate. I really really like the customization possible
with MLO with its views and workspaces. But I'm currently going crazy over
not being able to sync them easily across devices and platforms.

Setup:
- Three computers (One stationary, one laptop and one for work)
- Android phone (personal) and Iphone (work)
- Three .ml files synced through the cloud service. (One personal, one
share with SO and one boxed only for work)

I already know and use the possibility to export and import (some)
settings via xml-files on desktop and mvf-files for views to mobile.

But it's almost impossible to keep the software in sync. I find myself
making small modifications to the layout and the views from time to time.
But actually benefiting from those changes requires much work.

Add to that the limitation on mobile on view-hierarchies (2 levels but in
fact only 1 level can be imported since everything is put in an "imported
views" folder to start) which (due to some kind of brain software bug in
me) forces manual fixing.

Add to that the limitation in xml-export of workspaces on windows that it
does not preserve zoom sync (my experience, have to re-add that for a few
of my default workspaces), pinning, default settings and locks.

I'm pulling my hair.

[MLO] Re: Syncing Views and Workspaces between platforms

2017-03-25 Thread Roberto Penzo
I agree with you. This is my experience too.

The world is getting complex and complex, so things helping us should be
NOT complex on use. I hope that in the future MLO will no more need these
manual care.
I understand that, to keep it simple, MLO asks the developers some extra
work. That is quite tiring for them, but it is the truth.

I would add one other item: the manual ordering of the tasks on the views
is not synced among devices (only the starred view is synced for now).
