Successful candidate will be responsible for the architecture, design and implementation of a database engine and its interface with a variety of commercial databases. Responsibilities include authoring of specifications and design documents, evaluation of impacts on system performance and recommendations for improvements. Requires experience with SQL and relational databases (Oracle, Microsoft SQLServer etc.) including significant product experience with the internals (SQL query parsing, optimization, planning, execution and database API internal implementation).May also include technical direction and scheduling of less senior engineers.
