Blue World ... I think we all agree

2002-03-07 Thread Paul Warren

Well I wrote a big message and tried to send it to the mysql list but it got
returned saying it was spam. Then I got to think that maybe it is. I see
that the whole Blue World discussion is not quite as big as it was before
but here's my suggestion.

Either we email Blue World with our complaints and / or agree to meet on
some forum Or join the PHP mailing list :)

Anyone get MySQL and RH7.2 to work?

2002-03-07 Thread Paul Warren

I've been frustrated with this for the past I-donno-how-many days. Has
anyone been able to get MySQL to work on Red Hat 7.2?

I've been getting multiple errors. The First was the resolveIP() right from
the beginning. I follwed what the mysql website said and got glibc version
2.95 and that error dissappeared but I got a new one.
my latest error was can't find tgetent in either curces or termcap. I
don't think I have either of the later installed. I don't know where I can
get them.

I'm using the source code and compiling it. With the RPM, I still get errors
but it has installed somewhat. I'd like a clean install.

Basically, I would like to know if anyone has got it to install sans errors
and how did they do that.

build problems

2002-03-06 Thread Paul Warren

I have Redhat 7.2 - clean install
When I try to compile my own mysql 49a version, I get a hostname error and
it said it can't use the resolveIP function. It also says it might be that
mysql isn't 100% compatible with the libc (or glibc) version I have. I also
saw on the www.mysql.com homepage that there are problems with a glibc
version 2.96
I can use the rpm but it installs with errors. Is it possible to install
without errors?

has anyone gotten a clean install with mysql? and how?

thanks, Paul
