Simple: Date Stamp mySQL and PHP

2002-01-24 Thread Shannon Kendrick

Hi all,
Ive got a timestamp in a database column and basically
I was wondering if there was any function in PHP to
parse the date into something more readable from

20020123143547

23 Jan 2002 14:35

something like

$date1= datetoreadable($date);

Thanks

Shannon

Ive got numerous accounts with www.palmversa.com and I
have to say they are very reliable and extremely
cheap.

Hope this helps

Help! Languages and Characters....

2001-12-21 Thread Shannon Kendrick

I have a mysql table (MySAM), a field in there is set
to unique, however the field does not seem to
recognise the difference between certain ascii
characters, for example it things that

multimedia and multimèdia are the same (I hope it is
shown correctly) but basically it dos not recognise
characters like an e with an acute accent to be
different from a normal e

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks

Shannon

The problem is that I dont want it case sensitive, but
I do want it to distinguish special characters, any
more ideas?

Thanks

Set the field type as BINARY, that will make it case
 sensitive.

Whats the drawback of using InnoDB instead of MySAM
tables?

Yep, use InnoDB instead of MyISAM tables.

Re: letter 'O' with umlaut not equivalent to regular 'O'?

2001-12-21 Thread Shannon Kendrick

Try setting the column to binary, that what worked for
me.

 Description:

 How-To-Repeat:
I tried the following query in MySQL:

   SELECT 'e'='ë', 'o'='ö';

   (ie, select 'e' = e-with-umlaut, 'o' =
 o-with-umlaut)

   And the result:

   +-+-+
   | 'e'='ë' | 'o'='ö' |
   +-+-+
   | 1 | 0 |
   +-+-+

I believe both results should be '1' with Latin-1?

I tried it on Linux (MySQL 3.23.46) and FreeBSD
 (3.23.42) with
   the same results.

MySQL Glitch?

2001-12-16 Thread Shannon Kendrick

Hi all,
Ive recently been made aware of a glitch in MySQL
regarding locked at the table level (instead of row)
when a record is being updated.

Is this still a problem in Version 3.23.46?

Has it been fixed in 4.0.0? And if so, when is a
stable version of 4.0 likely to be released?

Many thanks,

Shannon
