I believe it's more than enough to learn MySQL. Our server at Ensita runs MySQL 3.23.47 on a Pentium-200MMX box with 56ram and - surprise - it proceeds it all. Noone here feels a need to upgrade. I have seen MySQL working on a very ancient 486 box with as little RAM as 8mb and MySQL did everything that was designated for. The machine that is available without additional cost is a dual Pentium classic 166 with 128mb memory, 1.2G hard drive. For a single user system for learning this will be MORE than enough.
