Do you have g++ installed? It doesn't look like you do.

RE: Mysql Installation problem with 3.23.49 Linux Source release on RH7.3 Beta 1.

2002-04-19 Thread Ricky Sun

I am trying to install mysql 3.23.49 source release on RH7.3 Beta 1 workstation...
Encountered the following gcc C++ compiler executable creation problem

when ./configure checks for C++ compiler it complains :

checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... yes
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) is a cross-compiler... no
checking whether we are using GNU C... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking for c++... no
checking for g++... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C++ compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler =
=3D
cannot create executables.

The version of gcc I am using is 2.96 2731... any hints? Why it's not recognized
as a C++ compiler?

$gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.96/specs
gcc version 2.96 2731 (Red Hat Linux 7.2 2.96-109)
