Problem - Host 'abc.def.com' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server, Please advice..

2008-07-14 Thread ahmadbasha.shaik
Hi All,

I am facing a particular problem which i have explained here. Can
you please let me know a solution for this.

From my web application, I am trying to connect the MySQL server by
using the IP address as the server name, and it says the following
error:
Host 'abc.def.com' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

Options that I tried: (from the information availabe on internet)
a) I tried modifying the hosts file in WinNT directory to include this
host name (assuming that it was not understanding the IP), but it did
not work
b) I tried adding a record with the IP as host and user as root in user
table of mysql database it did not work
c) I tried adding a record with the 'abc.def.com' as host and user as
root in user table of mysql database it did not work
d) I tried enabling Remote Access in MySQL Server instance config
wizard but since the root users password is not set, it is not allowing
me go forward (i.e. the next button is disabled)
e) If I try to reset the password while configuring the MySQL Server
Instance, it does not allow me to do so
f) I tried adding a record with the '%' as host and user as root in user
table of mysql database it did not allow me to add the record

Ahmad

Hi,

I did that too,

I executed the command - GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* to
'root'@'localhost' ;
I tried also GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* to 'root'@'abc.def.com' ; where
abc.def.com is my machine name

But both of these did not work, I did not mention this in my earlier
mail. Can you please let me know if there is any other way out.

Hi all,

First try checking out the grant for the particular user ?

Show grants for user@'abc.def.com';

If u don't find the results u can give grant as :-

Grant select on *.* to user@'abc.def.com' identified by ''; Flush
privileges;

2008-07-14 Thread ahmadbasha.shaik
Hi Parikh,

Yes.. It worked with IP i.e when I granted privileges to 'root'@'ip of
my machine' and flushed it, it worked fine. But I have a qestion below:

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* to 'root'@'IP';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

However, Would '*.def.com' work in the place of IP?, as I feel that
giving privileges for each IP for each machine that is going to access
the mysql server would be tedious and not recommended choice. Please let
me know.

2002-07-12 Thread Gelu Gogancea

Hi,

For first i wish to apologize for using the list with some questions which
don't have to much in common with the subject of this list.But i hope you
understand me.

Me and the organization for which i work, are interested for buying some
servers.On this servers machine we wish to install like OS , LINUX and SCO
UNIX and like RDBMS, MySQL and INFORMIX.
Our problem is that we don't know yet, what should buying from this 3 next
servers machine:

- COMPAQ PROLIANT DL 580 (Generation 2) 2P EURO
- INTEL SRSH4
- IBM x255

All have the next base configuration:
CPU XEON 1.4 GB (512 cache on L3) x 4 pcs.
HDD SCSI 15k rpm, 36 GB x 4 pcs.
2 GB ECC SDRAM DRIMM

I have some doubt about IBM x255...it's too chip (15.000 USD w/o VAT) in
comparison with COMPAQ(21.000 USD w/o VAT) or INTEL(18.000 w/o VAT).From
description it's seems to be similarly with COMPAQ and INTEL(except the
ChipKill).
Another doubt for me (apropos by IBM) it's next:
-the CPU's work at 400 Mhz and RAM work ... only at 200 Mhz.

I wish to know if is some WEB site(on google i searched already...i found
some MMB2 test...not much relevance) where is described, comparison and
benchmark...or if is someone which have experience with IBM x255 or INTEL
SRSH4.

Any advice it's really appreciated.

Best regards,

Gelu

MySQL performance issues - PLEASE ADVICE!!

2002-05-07 Thread webmaster

I am having performance problems with my MySQL installation - what would be an
appropriate channel for requesting help to such a problem?
I have posted to this list twice and another one as well. Volumes are very high on
using MySQL/standard SQL questions, but not an single suggestion has been submitted to
my request.
Is the only valid alternative to go for an annual support deal with MySQL.org? My site
can't afford that. Lots of enthusiastic 'community' members will be disappointed if it
should go down because I cant afford proper support.
Please respond if you have any suggestion where it might be wise to direct my request!

All the best;

Subject: MySQL performance issues - PLEASE ADVICE!!

I am having performance problems with my MySQL installation - what would be
an appropriate channel for requesting help to such a problem?
I have posted to this list twice and another one as well. Volumes are very
high on using MySQL/standard SQL questions, but not an single suggestion has
been submitted to my request.
Is the only valid alternative to go for an annual support deal with
MySQL.org? My site can't afford that. Lots of enthusiastic 'community'
members will be disappointed if it should go down because I cant afford
proper support.
Please respond if you have any suggestion where it might be wise to direct
my request!

All the best;

Eivind :-)

Please Advice

2001-09-07 Thread Shaji Khan

Hi, I am a newbie to MySql and I am planning to use MySql and PHP to develop
a shopping cart and other components of a full blown ecommerce site. Is this
a good choice for this kind of work or do you guys think some thing like SQL
Server and ASP is a better choice.

Experienced users, please advice.

Thanks for all the help.

If you use MS SQL Server + ASP all of your profits will be eaten by licensing
fees.

AFAIK, there is nothing that the MS solution has to offer that MySQL+PHP does
not. MySQL+PHP is a good choice IMNOHO.

- MySQL is free, MS SQL Server is not (as far as I know).
- MySQL is faster than pretty much anything else going with the same features.
  At least on *NIX type systems, I don't know about MickySoft.
- PHP has lots of options, LOTS. Although I've found it to be with concernes.
  If you write Perl, I would suggest using that. Here's part of why:

Re: Please Advice

2001-09-07 Thread Webmaster

I am using ASP and MySQL and am very happy with the performance!

If you are on a Windows box, and have IIS5, there is no reason not to use
ASP and the MySQL/MyODBC set up... it really does work well... (you could,
of course, install PHP on your Windows box... (www.php.net)... I do like
PHP... and use it in certain circumstances)... really, in my opinion, both
set-ups perform equally well... and it comes down to a C++ feel or a VB
feel when you are scripting...
