Hi, I did that too, I executed the command - GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* to 'root'@'localhost' ; I tried also GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* to 'root'@'abc.def.com' ; where abc.def.com is my machine name But both of these did not work, I did not mention this in my earlier mail. Hi Parikh, Yes.. It worked with IP i.e when I granted privileges to 'root'@'ip of my machine' and flushed it, it worked fine. But I have a qestion below: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* to 'root'@'IP'; FLUSH PRIVILEGES; However, Would '*.def.com' work in the place of IP?, as I feel that giving privileges for each IP for each machine that is going to access the mysql server would be tedious and not recommended choice. Please advice...
Hi, For first i wish to apologize for using the list with some questions which don't have to much in common with the subject of this list. But i hope you understand me. Me and the organization for which i work, are interested for buying some servers. On this servers machine we wish to install like OS , LINUX and SCO UNIX and like RDBMS, MySQL and INFORMIX. Our problem is that we don't know yet, what should buying from this 3 next servers machine: - COMPAQ PROLIANT DL 580 (Generation 2) 2P EURO - INTEL SRSH4 - IBM x255 All have the next base configuration: CPU XEON 1.4 GB (512 cache on L3) x 4 pcs. HDD SCSI 15k rpm, 36 GB x 4 pcs. 2 GB ECC SDRAM DRIMM I have some doubt about IBM x255...it's too chip (15.000 USD w/o VAT) in comparison with COMPAQ(21.000 USD w/o VAT) or INTEL(18.000 w/o VAT).From description it's seems to be similarly with COMPAQ and INTEL(except the ChipKill). Another doubt for me (apropos by IBM) it's next: -the CPU's work at 400 Mhz and RAM work ... only at 200 Mhz. I wish to know if is some WEB site(on google i searched already...i found some MMB2 test...not much relevance) where is described, comparison and benchmark...or if is someone which have experience with IBM x255 or INTEL SRSH4. Any advice it's really appreciated. MySQL performance issues - PLEASE ADVICE!!
I am having performance problems with my MySQL installation - what would be an appropriate channel for requesting help to such a problem? I have posted to this list twice and another one as well. Volumes are very high on using MySQL/standard SQL questions, but not an single suggestion has been submitted to my request. Is the only valid alternative to go for an annual support deal with MySQL.org? My site can't afford that. Lots of enthusiastic 'community' members will be disappointed if it should go down because I cant afford proper support. At least on *NIX type systems, I don't know about MickySoft. - PHP has lots of options, LOTS. Although I've found it to be with concernes. If you write Perl, I would suggest using that. Re: Please Advice
I am using ASP and MySQL and am very happy with the performance! If you are on a Windows box, and have IIS5, there is no reason not to use ASP and the MySQL/MyODBC set up... it really does work well... (you could, of course, install PHP on your Windows box... (www.php.net)... I do like PHP... and use it in certain circumstances)... really, in my opinion, both set-ups perform equally well... and it comes down to a C++ feel or a VB feel when you are scripting...
