Unlucky the WinMySQLAdmin uses the user which was inserted at first
time and with all the privileges granted. When I did the code I
assumed the Administrator user is the one to be used.
For example if you remove, the my.ini file, the tool should ask
for you the name and password to be used.

Problem with WinMySQLAdmin on NT

2001-10-22 Thread martin . austin

I'm having problems with WinMySQLAdmin. Please could anyone advise.

MySQL 3.23.42-nt is installed by Administrator on NT 4.0 SP6 machine in D:\Program
Files\MySQL. It has to be installed by Administrator in order to create and start the
MySQL NT service. The service is created and starts OK.
All installs OK and WinMySQLAdmin creates a my.ini file in %SYSTEMDIR% (in our case
C:\winnt40) with the entries:

[mysqld]
basedir=D:/Program Files/MySQL
datadir=D:/Program Files/MySQL\data

[WinMySQLadmin]
Server=D:/Program Files/MySQL/bin/mysqld-nt.exe
user=martin
password=shuush!
# No, that's not the real password!

WinMySQLAdmin shows the Environment, MyODBC and Server information on the Environment
tab page and the Green light goes on.

If I log on as another user and run WinMySQLAdmin only shows the Environment
information, no MyODBC nor Server information and the red light stays on. The NT
service is still running and the command line utilities suggested in the manual
(2.6.2.3, including MySQLAdmin) show that the server is running and is accessible.

So why won't WinMySQLAdmin work for a different user? The user in the my.ini file does
exist in mysql.user with Host='%' and %_priv ='Y'. The error file contains 'MySql:
ready for connections' but none of the other tabbed pages have any information.

Is this a bug or a feature?
