The idea of just running a slave for the purpose of bringing it down, each night, to make a backup, is quite appealing. I now use the hotcopy method. Hi, I know, it sounds a bit like a stupid question, but can I run a slave mysqld server on the same machine? The idea of just running a slave for the purpose of bringing it down, each night, to make a backup, is quite appealing. I now use the hotcopy method.
