I have just updated from MySQL 3.23.51 to 4.0.4 on my Win2000 Prof SP2
portable, and shortly afterwards noted some runaway problem was consuming
memory. Left long enough, Windows eventually starts bleating about its
amount of virtual memory; obviously things start to thrash, and apps
gradually grind to a halt...

I rebooted and got back to work but shortly thereafter the problem
persisted/reasserted itself. Noting that my machine is comparatively small,
I swapped C:\WinNT\My.ini for the my-small template.

I rebooted and running no apps only started/inspected Administrative Tools,
eg Event Viewer, Services, and Windows Task Manager. There were no errors in
the system logs, nor did anything appear in MySQL's. However, once again
something seemed to be taking a bite out of memory every few seconds.

Question to ask: what's new/changed? Sure enough, when I stopped MySQL the
memory was returned to the pool.

Restarted the system again, watched the dials again, and again "somebody's
been eating my memory!" This time I only got as far as stopping
WinMySQLadmin, and noted that the stolen memory was released - NB I did not
need to stop the MySQL service, it's still running happily.

I've had a quick look around, but not noted any reported problems with this
version of WinMySQLAdmin. Someone please point me in the right direction,
=dn
